Frenkie de Jong

Is there a one source that claim City's interest in Frenkie De Jong ( Regardless if its reliable source or random kid on twitter ) ?

There were a couple of stories knocking about a few weeks back, and TH did suggest de Jong and his agent were pushing for City at one point - but it seems any interest has disappeared and we’ve moved on to other targets.

I would imagine the investment needed to bring him here became prohibitive - either that or his agent started trying to drum up interest from other clubs to get a bidding war moving, and we bailed out.

I think Tolmie alluded to complexity in the deal - I assume Barca had their eye fixed on someone City didn’t want to sell (probably Bernardo) as a precursor to any deal - hence our non interest. In this team FDJ - as good as he is- represents a serious downgrade on Bernardo.

We must have had really positive vibes from Bellingham for next season then @tolmie's hairdoo if we are completely not interested in de Jong coming here?

As much as they Seem to despise us - City and Dortmund could develop a very positive relationship - out totally different business models are actually complimentary. We get first option on their star players in return for them getting first refusal on our academy products to loan - or even purchase with an agreed buy back!

Yeah I agree, I think they make public statements for their fans about oil money etc whereas behind the scenes I imagine things are a lot more cordial then it looks from the outside.

Or we can just buy Dortmund and add them to the CFG.

Bellingham would cost at least 80-90M£ in 2023, the alternatives of him like Barella, etc. would be expensive too and we need to buy a new winger too in 2023. IMO We need to prepare 150M£ for 2023 to fight for Bellingham and possibly Leao if he wouldn't extend with Milan. So I don't expect any moves apart from Cucurella and new DM and selling Jesus, Itakura, Herrera, and Porro in this transfer window. I would consider an important bid for Ake, 40M£ at least and buy a good 4th choice CB for 20-25M£ just to earn some money.

Haaland 51m£
Cucurella 40m£
New DM 45m£

Jesus 45m£
Porro 7,5m£
Herrera 10M£
Itakura 5m£

Net spent circa 65-70m£.

I would think Frankie would be Bernardo's replacement IF he wants out.
