Frenkie de Jong

We dont know if he will go.....the club are making a mistake to let him go if they do this close to the transfer deadline day as in answer to your second question, there is no one of equal quality that will be available....clubs will know how desperate we will be and would raise their valuations accordingly.
We would weaken our squad and FDJ is a player at present we dont need and his wages would be ridiculous.

Again regurgitating bollocks about his wages.

Every single comment, what is going on in this thread?!

FDJ is an inferior player to who?

Surely you’re not comparing him to Bernardo, because that’s completely irrelevant. You should be comparing him to Lucas Paqueta or whoever the other Bernardo replacements are supposed to be.

Bernardo wants to go, the choice is whether (1) United/Chelsea pay Barcelona for De Jong and they buy Bernardo with it, leaving us a week to find and buy a replacement from some other club

or (2) we arrange some sort of swap.

Secondly, why do people keep hammering this made up crap about his wages when Marca have released every detail of his contract and it’s normal? And it was posted in this thread 10 times. His salary is £225k/week. It’s not 400k or 500k or 1m a week or whatever else people keep posting.

Lastly, just because Chelsea offered to pay his deferred wages doesn’t mean we have to, nor United if he goes there. Barcelona need to get rid of him, any good negotiator should be able to get them to pay him the owed money to save paying him the full amount.
He is an inferior player to Bernardo regardless of the fact they are different plaayers...thats exactly why he is inferior....FDJ is not the type of player (skill set or attitude wise) that we need

Bernardo may want to go (no argument) BUT should the club let him go this close to deadline day......now there is an argument to say that would be a big mistake.

You think FDJ is going to forgo 17m euros to leave Barca....would you? He will want some sort of compensation.

Not mention his agent wanting a slice.

This is not true at all.

His salary is 14m euros a season. £225k

The reason he’s supposed to be getting paid €22m for the next few seasons is because he deferred €17m over the last 2 years.
Except it's not his salary at all.

If he was only getting 14m a season barce wouldn't be trying to launch him out the door headfirst.

Google is your friend.

So to sum up.

I said comparing him to Bernardo is wrong, he needs to be compared to other Bernardo replacements.

You've replied by just comparing him to Bernardo again.

I said he's getting his 17m from Barcelona, you've replied by saying I think he's going to let it go.

Have you been in the sun too long?

I know exactly what his salary is because I've posted every single detail of it on here.

He signed a 6 year, 14m a year contract.

Then he signed a 6 year contract which averaged 14m a year, but let Barcelona backload it.

It is beyond dishonest to pretend his wages at his new club would be 27m, just as it would be disingenuous to claim it was 3m or 9m euros because he earned that last season and the season before.

The fact is he agreed to 14m a year, which is as much as we'd pay any other Bernardo replacement.

The problem with this thread is that half the posters are still living in denial about the fact Bernardo Silva is probably leaving and cannot get their head around that this is not a debate about Bernardo vs. FDJ, it's about FDJ vs. some other last minute midfield replacement for Bernardo.
