Frenkie de Jong

Perhaps we don't want him, or he doesn't want us. Otherwise, it would most likely have been done some time ago.

Much rather have Bernardo anyway, so all good.
Bernie is great, but given the different skillsets of each plyer, the preference of Pep's formation, and the requirements of our squad,FDJ would be the far more useful player to have on board if a choice was needed. Both would be amazing.

As Tolmie mentioned yesterday, I think the lack of a deal is down to relative valuations and player salary (FDJ is owed something like 14m in deferred wages). Tolmie has Barça valuing FDJ at 80m and Bernie at 65m with City seeing it exactly the opposite.

Seems like Barça want the buying club to cover the deferred wages in addition to paying full price, whereas City, and other interested clubs, are only willing to go up to 80m, all in. Probably the only way a straight swap can happen is if Barça agree on City's valuations and accept a big book loss on FDJ with City booking a massive (sic) profit for Bernie.

Even better if Bernardo could play with FDJ in sky blue ;)

Perfect player for this team, long term replacement for Gundo, and have we not just raised a lot of cash this summer?

Leaving him to sign for dippers is poor business of us.
He is tittle winning player. Should play for City.

concerning that the dippers might get him? seems they are now defo going for a top midfielder, i really hope de jong or barella dont end up there!

Apparently latest news is that he has instructed his agent to come to an agreement with Barca to have his wages lowered so he can stay at the club.
Who knows what’s really going on but if we are not in the mix if he is for sale it’s extremely disappointing.

An amazing player, that's unquestionable, and I don't see how he would be anything other than perfect for us and for Pep.

I think the Spanish way with debt is to agree the final price but legally search for debt regarding that asset.
The payment at Contract stage is then total debt to the bank or this case the lender and agreed fee minus debt payment to the seller.
This is because debt is transferred from seller to buyer in certainly say house purchases in Spain.
I'm sure our Spanish Management will be aware of this.

If, and it's a big if, liverpool get De Jong then it will be a game changer for them.

However I think it's a distant possibility.
