Despite the many opinions expressed by BM posters, you are absolutely correct and the professionals are the best ones to make such decisions.

Yeah, the youngster needs ten times harder to impress Pep to be considered part of his world class team. Some like Foden is generational talent that have an easier path to accomplish his goals, but that doesn't mean he slacking off, ofc he still works hard to earn respect and get his spot in first team on daily basis. Others in academy that have lesser potential needs to understand, this is how professional football works. There's no easy way going to first team from academy.

Every team in the world does the exact same thing and City is no different on that. Don't expect hands out, keep working hard and eventually the manager will see some use on you and give a chance.

We have kids who are every bit as good as Chlesea's, but they need a chance. It doesn't just happen on its own.

The squad has to be planned for it. That doesn't mean not signing FDJ if he's really going to improve the side, but it might mean selling like Gundo earlier than expected.

We need to replace Fern, Rodri is playing far too much in term of fatigue later in the season, FDJ would be a wonderful signing for us.

FDJ's best position is #8. Koeman moved him there last year and he completely controlled games, split the defence with passes no one else could play and also got a bunch of goals making late runs into the box.

If we were to buy him I don't see how he'd fit unless he would be replacing Gundo. He's an 8 who can play 6 if you set the team up specifically for it, or CB in a pinch.

It would be a good move if you wanted to bring kids through. People were talking about a kid being 4th CB, well you could do that if we had another senior player who could slot in if needed, so you've got 3.5 seniors plus a kid. Same with Lavia at 6. Going from Rodri+Fern to Rodri+Lavia is a bit risky, but if you had FDJ as well, he'd be your extra cover.

Don't treat player development like somekind milestone that need to be accomplished, if the professionals that handles them think they aren't ready yet then they aren't. Good for Chelsea for doing that, but in City they seems handles their youth differently. We prefer to keep the player with highest potential to make it into first squad and develop them in house with world class coaching to integrating them slowly into first team, while those that do not will be given a second chance in loan to prove themselves.

Training and being mentored by world class coach and player in first team is more invaluable than playing for minutes in inferior team with their lower standard coach and playstyles.

In short Chelsea and City handles their youth differently, no one is more right than the others. Both are valid option to handles the youth.

Plenty of room for the lad, 50-60 game a season, 3 of those 30 or over next year before sales. Overkill? maybe, worth the pissboiling? Totally.

The argument will be more stupid if any of those chelsea youngster is even good enough for our squad, i can count two that make a cut. one probably starting the other is bench player and not more than that. While City youngster is in similar situation so it's even.
