Anyone still do it since covid. Pre covid could be as many as 20/30 of us from various departments such as IT, Finance, Events etc etc packing pubs near Hampton court for extended lunchtime pints. Last time I went into office on Friday and went there was no one. Since covid I try to work from home on a Friday and started chatting to a few in the local (only pub in the village) and it's now become a regular thing we meet at 1 for a few pints. All strangers pre covid now friends from different walks of life, various jobs who wouldn't have connected if not for working from home

Tried having a beer or two on Fridays but always ended up with me going back to work and packing up my tools and going home. Now I just pack up my tools and go home. No desire to work after a beer.

Me neither. When the "drugs and alcohol" policies were introduced to the railway industry, they quite rightly applied to all grades, so was never an option!
My dads local used to be the junction in cheadle hulme right next to the station. During the 70s, 80s , The guys in the ticket office took it in turns to sneak off for several, and i mean several, pints of holts before pottering back

If it keeps some of the local pubs in business, that's a good thing.

I've never really worked in a city centre, and had to drive to various outlying offices I was based at, so could never really do it.

I do still love a Sunday afternoon drink though!

Yep, every month a load of Prison Officers (ex and still working) launch emselves into town.
Right load of ugly bleeders, not counting myself of course

Just at the start of my railway career, one of the pubs outside Leeds station has a railway internal phone. If you were on a "spare" turn, you'd stay in there supping until the traincrew supervisor rang you up with a job.

Just talking about that today, if not for us in on Friday lunchtime might only be 1 or 2 passers by popping in. Most Fridays can vary from 2 or 3 to as many as 7 or 8. Few pints and money they wouldn't have had
