I heard the club balloted the official supporters club after giving the reasons and 70% voted for the change
If their supporters club is anything like our ticket-whoring sycophantic supporters club, I'm not surprised.

I wasn't to be honest i understand club tradition but Cardiff, Wales, Red, Dragon it all goes together pretty well

Red is considered in many cultures to be very lucky.

We are refurbishing Soames casino on George st ( china town ) at the moment and red is the colour we must use to help keep the punters lucky.

Just saying like.

I'd never wear red if spurs changed to it. Just out of principle.

I'd just use my 40 quid to spend on other things like a reduced champions league mug 2012/13 season

No-one has mentioned about when we went from sky blue to lazer blue or incorporated an eagle on to our crest. Is this not a fair comparison to make?

Well I think that was different for a couple of reasons, though people may disagree.

For a start we didn't change the colour, just the shade, so the alteration wasn't as strong.

Secondly, we were re-branding the club because we had little choice, the club as a whole had changed. We had slipped down the divisions like a stone and it was definitely a 'different City' to that which we'd been used to. If we were to be consigned to the lower divisions and survive we needed to modernise. Team badges do change over the years and ours badly needed updating and bringing into the new era. We never forgot our roots though, which is the important thing, and we were soon back in sky blue.

Others may think differently because I was very young when we changed colours, but for me it wasn't quite the same situation.

I'm absolutely amazed by this decision. In May, after the Cardiff fans went into meltdown, the owners decided that they wouldn't change it. The phrase "vociferous opposition" was used.

All well and good until this morning when they decided to do a u-turn. Over 100 years of history wiped out. Just like that. Because, and this is the biggie, the colour red will be more acceptable to "international markets".

Can you imagine this happening to us? Forget all your Bluemoon nonsense fans because we want to play in red as we like the colour.

If I was a Cardiff fan I'd realise that my support wasn't needed anymore and cheer on someone else as they obvious don't need their fans money.

Disgraceful. Utterly disgraceful.

I'd be seething if I was a Cardiff fan, I'm cross and I'm only an outsider!

Maybe it's just a tribute to United though, I mean, both clubs are bottlers after all...

-- Wed Jun 06, 2012 3:56 pm --

that's what you have the national team for, and Swansea already have a red and green away kit.

Only reason blue isn't "marketable" is because it hasn't had as much exposure yet, you really think it's going to bother the Asian markets that we play in sky blue?

I was listening to this on Radio 5 Live before and their CEO basically said that the money talked and if they didnt change it was goodbye to the investment.

That in itself is fair enough from the CEO but what kind of owner or investor puts those conditions on the fans like that?

At a recent supporters club meeting, Gary James revealed that Khaldoon had a meeting with him when ADUG first came in and he wanted to know all about the history and tradition of the club. As a matter of fact Khaldoon was the only chairman to have done that. Our owners are VERY much in tune with our history and tradition and lets face it, sky blue hasn't been the luckiest colour so on that basis, if they had suggested we played in pink with yellow spots I'm not sure we could have said no. But our owners have heart and soul and understand all about City. So if they, piling billions into the club can do that, why can't some two bit new money billy big boots malaysian not have the same respect?

IT disgusts me, quite frankly.

Red means luck in Asia and Bluebirds is a slang name for a penis in Malaysia i think so that had a huge part in it.

Hahaha, I think you'll find its the owners who will get the luck, not the punters......

The cardiff decision is a disgrace though.
