From Blue to Red

From Wikianswers:

Blue is the colour of fidelity.
Used for truth, wisdom, faith, intelligence, peace, meditation, healing, psychism, patience, decision making, poetry, understanding,
Happiness, sleep, dreams, tranquility, the oceans, waters, and the sky.
Blue symbolises the Great Mother Queen of Heaven, feminine mysteries, The Element Water, the planet Venus, the day Thursday and the Zodiac signs Aquarius & Pisces.
The Norse saw blue as the all encompassing, all penetrating, and omnipresent mystical force of numen and a sign of restless motion. The Europeans connected it with the upper classes (blue-blooded) and it is commonly used as a term of loyalty (true blue).
In the deep south of the USA porch ceilings are often painted a sky-blue known as haint-blue to protect the household from ghosts.
Use blue in magic spells to protect one's reputation, defeat enemies, protect hearth & home, protect the young and for self-awareness. When combined with white it is said to create confusion among the evil.

I suppose that last bit settles the short colour argument then?

The evil were confused enough with blue shorts, would have been 10 with white ones!

I thought this idea got canned weeks ago. It's to do with red being the national colour of Malaysia, isn't it?

Outrageous if they've gone ahead with it.

Edit: F*ck me, they've done it. I imagine the fans will only buy the away kit anyway, so it's likely to backfire.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2155216/Cardiff-City-launch-new-red-home-kit.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... e-kit.html</a>

Nah. National colour of Malaysia is yellow. Their first choice national football jersey is yellow or yellow + black and the second jersey is blue or blue + red.

I reckon it's something to do with Chinese, the investors (owners?) origin. Clue: red and dragon.
Red is also the national colour for Wales, and the dragon a national symbol. When British Railways ran proper expresses, the main express to South Wales was called the "Red Dragon".

It seems partly to try to establish Cardiff City as the club for Wales. Sam Hammam tried something similar. Swansea fans certainly won't buy that!

The change would have been brilliant if it was done decades ago.
These days such moves would be considered as selling the club's soul.

Red means luck in Asia and Bluebirds is a slang name for a penis in Malaysia i think so that had a huge part in it.

Yes if you meant Asia as East Asia.

There's no considered lucky colour in West Asia, although they generally prefer white.

Re: Cardiff's new kit and badge

They had a Poll and 100% were in favour. Swansea have got a lot to answer for, reminds me of the recent Rag Poll.

That was a proper poll and it was 70%.
They got 70% yet the majority of fans are up in arms? Proper Poll that!

Re: Cardiff's new kit and badge

got to ask what is best for the long term future of the club,i wouldnt want city to change the colour however.

sheik stays and carries on stumping the money up = change of colour
sheik goes =keep the blue kit

also you never know whats round the corner,in 20 years time there could be a nfl type thing whereas one team one city,ie no liverpool and everton just a merged club, one london club, one manchester club(see its started already)

cardiff would then be in prime position ,red kit with a drgon playing in cardiff playing at the mill stadium.
