Front man!

Ive thought that a few times! Gomez and Dzeko are the main focal points to any attack and have fantastic attriubtes of players in that position! Imagine one or the other playing with Robinho, Tevez or Aguero just playing off them as the other front man!

Dzeko Aguero
Gomez Tevez
Dzeko Robinho
Gomez Robinho
Gomez Aguero
Dzeko Tevez

Great pairings like these will win us big matches as well as scoring many goals against most other teams!

5 players who would complement Robinho, Ireland and Wright-Phillips in attack:-

Tevez, Sneijder, Silva, Lavezzi and G. Rossi.

The number of players possessing all the skills mention by the threadstarter are few and far between.

In terms of signing a proven goalscorer, though not neccessarily of course in the EPL, the following players should be sought out:-

Diego Forlan, Atlético Madrid
Giuseppe Rossi, Villarreal
Ezequiel Lavezzi, Napoli
Luís Fabiano, Sevilla
Edin Džeko, VfL Wolfsburg
Luis Suárez, Ajax
Marko Arnautovic, Twente
Roque Santa Cruz, Blackburn
Edinson Cavani, Palermo
Alberto Gilardino, Fiorentina
Freddy Kanoute, Sevilla
Klaus-Jan Huntelaar, Real Madrid

Any one of these strikers should in theory transform our attacking fortunes.

As has been speculated in yesterdays Observer, it remains to be seen to what extent Mark Hughes as manager hinders the acquisition of top players. Add Hughes's low international profile to the lack of European football next season and the negotiating skills of Cook and Hughes will be given a severe test. All will become very clear in the next 4/5 weeks.

On the positive side it didn't stop Robinho from taking the plunge, ditto Kompany and De Jong.

Here's the sort of first XI I'd really like to see come August:-

---------------------------------Given------------------------------

Zabaleta-------------- Zapata----------Onuoha----------------Bridge

Wright-Phillips--------- De Jong-------Ireland-------------------------

---------------------------------------------------Robinho-----------

----------------------Santa Cruz----------Bellamy--------------------

Subs: Elano, Richards, Hart, Petrov, Kompany, Garrido, Weiss

Are you having a laugh? 1/Kompany is better than Zapata; 2/RSC and Bellamy would be woeful; 3/ Fine if all we had to spend was 25 million but I think MH has much more than that at his disposal.

I like Kompany, He has good technique and can read the game well but is too slow.

Who would be your 2 in the 4-4-2?

well with valencia not being in the champs league next season, david villa is becomeing even more of a chance of getting with valencia needing the money.

i just think its going to be down to villa whether he comes or not.

I'd Love Tevez to come because of his workrate but the fact of the matter is he is another midget, benzema isnt a realistic target and wouldnt fit the role of target man, we need someone who can hold up play, Drogba would be perfect if you ignored his age.

He is no slower than the likes of Vidic, Terry, Carragher or Carvalho...

Does anyone watch Brazil regularly?

When I've watched them it looks as if Fabiano links up really well with Robinho. If this is a regular thing then I can see no reason why he wouldn't fit the bill perfectly? That Dzeko looks decent though...

What about Fernando Torres? Well, not the Liverpool and ex Atletico Madrid star but his namesake who had to change his name for the Spain squad because of that one, he goes by the name of Fernando Llorente now! plays for Athlitic Bilbao: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPJgnH7cPqw ??

I know it seems like all he does is score headers (and he did against England when Spain beat us 2-0 not long ago, but he does have more to his game! Watched him 3 times on Spanish Footy on sky this season and i have to say he is impressive!
