Fulham (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

We needed to get that out of our system. Terrible performance, almost nervous but I think we were trying to be conservative with our energy.

First half very good, Alverez brilliant. Jck wasteful, Haaland on form still.
2nd half woeful, misplaced passes, lack of awareness of the dangers in certain situations, but hey they won so they must have been well managed match.
We have harder games coming in the league so glad we didnt drop points here.

We missed the creativity of Kev and the hard work of Bernie.

Vital win, not at our best, but still a deserved win. Tricky game against a physical Fulham side who were always in it a 2-1.

Alvarez was immense today, pressed brilliantly, full of energy and that goal was quality. As for Tete can understand Grealish being annoyed, he went right through him, very poor challenge.

The result is all that matters at this stage of the season, I could pick out 3 or 4 for being a bit sloppy but why should I when we got the 3 points, it's a team sport and not all 11 players and subs will be a 7 or 8 out of 10 today,

I also want to say Haaland 50 goals with plenty of games still to play is incredible and scary at the same time

Job done! It's nice to be looking diwn on the rest of the league, but today's performance was nothing to write home about against a well drilled, young & VERY energetic mid-table Fulham who had little riding on this game.

We looked tired & leggy & this was a potential banana skin which we skillfully navigated our way through.

I noticed how physically shattered KDB looked against Arsenal, so it comes as no surprise he was rested today. To be honest, Grealish also needs a rest. His recent effervescence has lost its fizz & he needs to resume target practice.

He had THREE cast iron opportunities to score early on & poorly squandered the lot! It's these small margins that will cost us at the highest level & his shooting is something he needs to keep practicing on intensely.

It's games like this where we need to utilise our squad better. However, would anyone have trusted Gomez or Philips to step in?

Both need to get it together ASAP & get themselves up to speed, because we badly need them now we're at the telling business end of the season, with injuries & fatigue starting to bite.

Alvarez was brilliant today & what a well taken goal! He was absolutely everywhere & posed a constant menace to Fulham. However, as Julian started to fade, Fulham started levelling up our earlier territorial & possession advantage as we visibly tired.

Today was all about the three points, so it's job done, well done all & roll on Wednesday.

Put the i-Thingy on random after the game and looking on here at everyone's comments..

First track up was Jackson Browne's 'Running On Empty'.. yup, that sums the second half up after the demanding week the lads have had!

Great result, well done boys.. rest up and let's move on to the next game. C'mon you Blues!

I think we're all agreed, three points is all that matters, but that's true all season in my opinion.

My minor worry is that against a mid-table team who who we would expect to beat almost every time, our defense looked shaky and we created very little. Jack had two good chances, Erling came very close early in the second half, but I can think of few other clear-cut opportunities.

But for the genius of Alvarez that's two points dropped an suddenly doubts start to emerge.

And then on to Kev. Sometimes we play very very well without him, I'm not sure of there is a common theme as to why, but he is arguably the world's best player and his absence today, make no mistake, would have given Fulham a boost. With a two goal cushion and Kev not playing we cruise along nicely, it isn't the same with just a one goal advantage.

Phil looked far hungrier than Riyad, I think he'll start against West Ham.

Let us also not forget though, that our opponents on 45 points at kick off, and still on 45 points, were the epitome of a team with absolutely nothing to play for. That makes the game 10% easier.
People always say it’ll be easier ‘teams have nothing to play for’ except they do as they have the opportunity to beat the champions, impact the title race or potentially european qualification etc. against other teams so I always find it an odd statement.

They certainly didn’t look like a team that had nothing to play for and these are the kind of wins that can mean just as much as Wednesday come the end of the season.

Hard fought win and massive 3 points.
Dont expect to play exciting game every week. Well done boys.
