Fulham (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Poor season, CL qualification is an excellent conclusion given all circumstances.

Put this season in the past and forget it... move onwards. Seven or eight players out in the summer, four or five in.

Get it right and the PL will be ours again at the end of 25/26.

Up the Blues!

Yes hopefully it's been a bit of a reminder not to get too complacent and rest on our laurels. Mind you nobody could have foreseen the horrendous amount of injuries we copped for or certain players having a massive dip in form.

Reading between the lines, txiki, pep, viana, khaldoon et al will be telling some players next week that they won’t be getting much game time and need to find a new club.

How many is anyone’s guess. 4 new faces min to compete next season to our normal level. The squad needs trimmed so expect loans aswell.

Rb and a Kev replacement is nailed on. Anyone else I’m not sure.

Let’s crack on now champions league is done.

Apart from the profligacy in front of goal a good professional performance. Ilkay was excellent today and can still do a job for us next season albeit not playing as many games. Certainly not a great season, shame we didn't win the FA Cup, but at least CL secured, now the rebuild continues.

Er, not really, We were playing a patched up team with plenty of injuries, players out of position to fill the gaps, players who needed resting themselves and so on. When you upset the momentum, when you don't have your best team out you're not going to get your best results and that's what happened. All season too many of you have been trying to over-analyse it and you're still doing it.
There a difference between getting bad results and getting no results at all.

It depends who we can sign. It appears we've missed out on our number one target Wirtz which is a big blow. For me right back, left back and a Kev replacement are top.priority.

Need a Gundo replacement also.

Wirtz is gone. We normally have 3/4 other players if the top one fails.

I genuinely don’t care. Only want and need players who want to be and stay at city. He didn’t fancy it. Let’s hope we can get the trophy back from dip land and make him regret his decision.

It’s all if, buts and maybe’s but take out that Nov/Dec we would probably have been sniffing around winning the PL. I’m chuffed with the way the team and manager got us to where we finished.

As for the game today we should have had 10, Nico G and Gundo were absolutely at it.

Thanks @Ric for hosting this absolutely fucking lunatic forum

I thought we played alright today, but were a bit wasteful in front of goal. We had a few nervy moments at the back but Ederson was solid and pulled off some good saves when it mattered.

Great goal from Gundo and good pen from Erling.

Proud that the players kept going this season and managed to get 3rd, when they could have given up, when things were looking at bit bleak at the start of the year.

Pep looked like he will be raring to go for next season, in his press conference to me.

We will be better next season.

Sad that King Kev has played his last minutes for us. What a fucking player!

Shout out to the away end today also. They were loud and sang non stop all game!

A professional performance that got the job done. Decent goal from Gundo and Gonzalez again highlighted the mystery of why he's been sat on the bench so much in the last month - I don't get it and many others don't either. If that was Edersons final game as it seems, he made a couple of crucial first half saves to keep our goal clean.

Considering we won 1 league game in a 13 game stretch, finishing 3rd is quite remarkable tbh. Credit to a team on its last legs and badly in need of a reset.

Now it's time to get to work. A new GK, 2 genuine full-backs and 3 quality central midfielders are the minimum requirement.

A ballpark guess - Ederson, Walker, Stones, KDB, McAtee, Grealish & Kovacic are offski. I'm hoping Nunes is too as he simply isn't good enough - watching him dribble the ball out of play this afternoon with nobody near him made me laugh however. Reis probably needs a loan move so with that calculation Pep gets his reduced squad but hopefully a vastly improved one. We badly need some real quality adding and not projects, rough diamonds or "might be in a few years" players.

Probably the best memory of this season is Kev's farewell, and that was bitter-sweet. Otherwise not a lot of joy to be had, lost the F.A. Cup, dismal in Europe, thumped by l'pool, arsenal & spurs, couldn't beat the rags. Hopes for next season are that Rodri, Bobb and Echeverri will shine. But the summer's coming and time to let go of football for now. Lancs are doing badly, so - Let's Go Mets!

Great day out, good atmosphere from us, never really looked like not winning it once Gundo scored - generally controlled the game and only had one or two dodgy moments when Eddy did well. Great send off for KDB at the end will live long in the memory.

Funny thing is that turned out not to be true, the result didn't matter at all today. We would have qualified even if we'd only drawn the midweek match v Bournemouth.
Yeah but we weren't to know that. Newcastle bottled it & Villa could've/should've won.

We lent on our experience and have got the job done in the last two games.

Little bit worrying that Eddie was MOTM against the side that finished 11th, but we qualified for the CL and only ended up three points behind the best team in Europe.
