Fulham (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Still recovering from that
Not one to watch sober
Fulham with nothing to lose just started blasting shots form everywhere just boom no shits given then some went in and the crowd treated it like a cup final
City players got nervy
Fulham players flying balls in from everywhere like wtf is this

Fulham don't try that in their next games
Most teams dont play like that juat gung ho slamming shots in from all over
Just an odd one

But. They also dont try this against Arsenal or feel like they can. That says something about how teams think they can get at us and how we've gone from looking like the keeper made us solid to this
I was with you until the weird keeper bit...

You criticised City after beating utd at home 3-0 so rein in your attacks on other fans due to your disappointment today.

I know you are very upset, but these things happen.
Eh? sorry, you've lost me. I didn't criticise City at all after beating United, in fact I rarely criticise us after a win, it's those who do it week in week out that do nothing but that pisses me off. I'm not disappointed or "very upset" about the match or result at all. I thought it was hugely entertaining and I'm over the moon that we're now second and proving most of you bellends wrong about this team. We scored 5 and won, is that worse than Arse only scraping a draw against a team who played with 10 men for most of the game 2 days ago? What's not to like?

Don't know who or what you're referring to but I think you've got your wires crossed somewhere along the way.

The shortcomings of the team are well documented above so I'll take the positives;

3 points at a hard away ground
Erling gets the 100 goals albatross off his back
Phil is back scoring (good goals too)
Reijnders got on the scoresheet
Doku is a handful even when he's not playing particularly well
With a bit of luck we could have had 2 more goals that hit the inside of the post

We move on.
So this

The most overrated player at the club. I can't believe that he gets a regular start, or that some fans think he's world class!
You just cannot appreciate Dias until you lose him. Dias is an important factor that the team still has a but control and not losing more than 4.

The scary thing is that two teams near the foot of the the table have completely outplayed us in the second half of the last two games. Is it tactical changes at half time or is it Pep persevering with players in midfield who cannot run. We must have by far the slowest midfield in the league with Bernardo, Nico and Reinjders.

The good = 3 points
The bad = Savinho an absolute nothing player.
The ugly = Pep’s half time team talks.
Not sure his team talk was the problem, we scored two more goals to go 5-1 up. The issue is our weak mentality when pressured and our shockingly poor control of possession. Numerous times we gained possession and then immediately gave it up again.

Phil scores our third in 44th minute,in 45+1 they get a corner, Phil clears it and the pressure is off, however straight away Nunes carelessly loses possession and Wilson slings it in, our defence has started to push out as Phil cleared and Smith Rowe is left free. Careless and fucking unnecessary. Sloppy and a complete lack of concentration.

After their 2nd goal, we panicked like a team of relegation fodder. Complete shambles. We need both fullback positions sorting, and centre backs who can tackle. Our midfield is laborious and does not offer anything when the pressure is on.

We were cruising in the 1st half and playing well, scored some great goals, but we conceded a soft goal just before the half.
We came out in the 2nd half and started well and at 5-1 that should've been it, but we sat back and just let them pretty much do what they want.
Not sure who was mean't to be marking their goal scorers, and even though they were good finishes, they had so much time pick their spot.
Amazing that we had a few good chances to really put the game away too.
A crazy game!

A brilliant achievement for Erling! Keep it going lad, all the records are there for the taking.

Phil is in great form, his first goal was superb, but i liked his second, keep it going lad!

No idea why Nico G was subbed but we fell apart when he came off, that just shows why we need another DM.

Happy to get the win, but we can't go on playing like this, sort it out Pep!

We don’t close down well. It’s one of our problems.

Khusanov was hands down our best defender up until his injury.

100% Khusanov is a better option than Nunes at right back.

All that a side, we shouldn't even be discussing Nunes, Rico or Khusanov as who gets the nod, the club should have signed a proper right back and not fucked about.
Khusanov has only played 9 PL games for us, and maybe only 2 or 3 of them this season. He is a CH and not a RB and cannot pass the ball straight.
RB is a huge weak link in our squad

We almost conceded a penalty from our own throw in at one point!

That was my point about Pep being stubborn as you've mentioned regarding the players we currently have.

We don't have the players to play the possession based way anymore, so I think he needs to adjust and work on the team defensively out of possession.

With the way Peps playing style is normally, when we lose possession we have players all within short distances of eachother to win the ball back quickly, we can't do that anymore either because allt of our lads don't have the legs anymore.

So both possession based and our pressing game isn't what is was, so Pep needs to come up with fresh ideas of how to go about it. I think we can all agree we need to sort out the team defensively as its a complete mess.

Is it the defense? Think it's more midfield where we're stuggling. We're missing the best DM in the world and a very decent one in Kovacic.

I don't think Pep will adjust too much. He has his way of playing and that's it. It's worked for him and us very well over the past decade.

We're essentially trying to replace the best team this league has every seen. It's not perfect, far from it, but we're not doing too badly.

I think we'll be bringing in a DM in January, or at least we should do.

Can I say this, I thought Haaland was one of the biggest culprits for losing control of the game. Way more than Savinho who I thought actually kept the ball well on a few occasions and relieved some pressure.

Haaland failed to hold it up pretty much every single time, ball just bounced off him over and over. I know is not easy, but could have done with him holding it a few times or winning some fouls.

I like Khusonov asa defender . I think Peps reluctance to play him is that he is a bit raw and rash and probably more that he isnt as good on the ball as Nunes or the others for instance.....

But its got to be worth a go to have him on as he is a very good defender in the basics and one on ones
I would agree with that, perhaps not quite as good/quite as used to playing as a player going forward but he's better at defending which seems to be what our achilles' heel is at the moment. I also think he is more accurate with his passing.
