Fulham (H) Post Match Thread

I wonder if he got 90mins into these players as a way of building up their stamina and proving they have the fitness, we are now into the swing of things in the league and only now has Pep felt comfortable that they can all get through it. All 11 should be rested mid week.
I reckon that was the plan to get a full 90 mins under their belt to prove that they can do it. It's the luxury we have after winning the CL group with a game to spare. At 2 nil Fulham just went through the motions as well. Didn't even bother to bring Mitrovic on. Don't expect any of today's eleven to feature midweek

That's what I'm assuming, I've been baffled by the lack of substitutions lately,
but then again I'm not paid millions to manage Manchester City.
So what your saying is most likely correct.

A regulation victory against fodder.

Another milestone in Foden’s development. Hey Phil, didn’t you hear it’s all on merit now? Your redundancy letter’s in the post.

Another day when we were hamstrung by those meanies not allowing five substitutions. But it did allow KDB the full 90 minutes to regain match fitness.
Are you Danny Murphy?

I 100% get where you're coming from, but it might be worth noting that against Liverpool Sterling was fouled on the edge of the area, didn't go down, didn't get the freekick, and then Liverpool went up the other end and got a penalty.

I'm not saying you're wrong here, but this is a clear damned if you do, damned if you don't sort of thing.
No chance of a ref giving a big decision if the player stays on his feet.

The decision not to use subs was completely logical under the circumstances. We were in total control and playing at training pace.
I expect a completely different lineup in midweek and those who played yesterday will line up v the rags.
Rotation of the team is mandatory in the circumstances and I would rather see players getting 90 under their belt as it will make them match fit.
It would have been a different matter yesterday if the result was in any doubt in the second half...

Watching the match i was struck with how much more solid and team-like we looked. Some very strong displays all over the pitch and they worked as a unit very well. This is a big step in a team that is pretty much 'new' and developing.

There's no logical reason not to use subs to their full advantage when the game is under control and you have a season like we have. We should be careful not to burn out players like Rodri who are plays a lot, and DIas. A central defendr may not use much energy but they can get injured. I do't understand why in this season of all seasons, Pep is not using his subs. Look at the fixture schefule ahead. We need to be careful and use our squad to its full. It is an asset we are not exploiting fully. I like the rotation between games in the Premier League and Champions League but we could make better use of the subs.

Struggling here with my boo boys for 12 months it's been rodri and gundog together then mahrez cancelo and stones and mendy, I feel a bit quality booing them now,
Have moved onto my ex favourite player laporte now :+)
Great being a two faced fan isn't it :+)

I'm not saying it wasn't a penalty,i'm saying he dived to earn it.If certain City fans are happy with him doing that then they shouldn't get on their high horse when Salah or Fernandes does it.
The main reason I defend Sterling is because I think he has earned the right to go down easily. It's not his first instinct to take a tumble, but I think it is with some other players like the two you mentioned. As proved recently in the Liverpool match. He is also probably the most fouled player in the penalty area with no return. As proved in the Porto match last week and countless other times.

Same here. Fulham are cannon fodder but we went to tough away grounds like Olympiakos and Porto and have looked solid.

Ou defending is much better. Our offensive game is not so good. I don't think we have sacrificed anything tactically, we just have a better Stones and a new defender in Dias who is quality.

We have a problem with our offensive game though. It's tempting to say it will be OK if Aguero returns but I don't think it will. That's the aspect of our game that bothers me a little. Had we played a Spurs, or a Wolves, I think we'd struggle to score. I think the Fulham game on its own doesn't tell us much because we were coasting

Pretty much sums it up, players go down voluntarily ie dive for all clubs Sterling isn’t alone in this. If fans are happy to take the decision they should own that view when it goes against. Personally I think it’s wrong and when the touch is minimal it’s pretty embarrassing but today players don’t have those same sporting values.

I don’t remember posters names but we all know how quick many will be to about turn if Salah flings himself to the ground next weekend or we suffer from it at the scum.

I also agree refs don’t help at all where a clear infraction has taken place.
