It’s more to protect tired legs & potential injuries
Yep it's definitely an head scratcher.Decent enough performance. Very good 1st half but extremely wasteful in the 2nd.
Cant get onboard with Pep moaning about not having 5 subs and then making 0.
They can get injured training instead, occupational hazard.
We are in the champions league for the money.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to BT Sport: "It's important to get a good run of points. For the chances we had, yes [we should have scored more], but it was the same in Porto. It's important that we won and that defenders don't make mistakes and we don't gift goals.
"We know the quality from Kevin [de Bruyne] in the goals and assists. He's so important for us. Just look at how he runs and fights as a modern footballer today. He is an example of this. He put all this together and every season it's massive.
"It's important to win games and clean sheets are a good fact, especially with the amount of chances we created again. The Fulham physicality was impressive. Scott Parker always has something tricky, you know, he did well against Leicester. Now everyone can beat everyone. That's why it's important for the victory and no injuries to go into the Champions League with fresh players.
"We have to wait until the end of the weekend but what's important is the feeling in the team. We will improve."
That’s what Pep was doing today. Protecting the players on the bench today from coming on and putting needless minutes into their legs. Everyone who played today will get a rest midweek. It’s good squad management from Pep, I don’t know why people can’t see it.
Exactly, Fulham are shiteBut those tactics and that level of play was perfectly good enough to beat Fulham with ease...

Excellent post, my thoughts too. I’d guess that at most we will have 2 or 3 from that 11 who start on Weds. That’s what Pep was doing today. 11 changes, dont have a clue why no substitutions????Hardly anyone that played today will start in midweek and I imagine some key players won't even be asked to warm the bench. Wouldn't be surprised if even Steffen gets a UCL debut.
Cancelo aside, I'd expect all of today's players to feature next weekend so it's understandable that Pep gave them all 90 minutes.
Shame we didn't score more and our shooting from range in particular drives me mad but Fulham were very organised and managed to cut out a lot of crosses.
