Question: Where's the seat you wanted? And where's the seat you've got?

I was offered one seat about six rows in front or another one about seven rows across. That, however, is not the point. The game won't be played for another three weeks. Putting all the personal abuse aside, I would have thought that you'd still be able to get your own seat just a few days after they go on sale; I wasn't aware this had changed. However, it appears that there is no guarantee that you can get your own seat as early as the first day of sale. In the natural order of things that surely can't be right...

But you thought wrong. You clearly thought that you would be able to buy your seat so therefore would pick and choose which cup games you went to and get your seat. You clearly did not understand when at the beginning of the season it was made clear that the only way to guarantee your seat was to go on the cup scheme.

There is no point in whining about it now you only have yourself to blame buy another seat and maybe next season join the scheme

-- Wed Nov 16, 2011 6:59 am --

Even allowing for Gareth Barry's goal, I'm fuming. I've just rang up for my Bayern seat only to be told it's gone. They only went on sale four days ago! Apparently, any season ticket holder can buy anyone else's seat regardless of whether they're a season ticket or not... and from day one!

Surely this can't be right???

Its not right, not everyone is going to be able to attend every home Champions league or Carling cup game because they are all midweek fixtures. For me, all season ticket holders should get 48hrs to buy their own seat. Having said that, most on the cup scheme will have been allocated their own seat. If you had phoned on the first day of sale there would have been a good chance of getting your own seat, although I know that's not the point!

There would be no point of the scheme then though would there as we would all do that

No, I'm not on the Cup Scheme and I've never been on it. Never needed to be and besides, I'll probably have to miss a couple this season. Call me old fashioned, but I was under the - false - impression that you'd get a few days to claim your seat. And they don't text you any more with confirmation - another modern innovation, no doubt.
me and you both BTH

So basically, you're not on the cup scheme and waited FOUR days to claim your usual seat for a Champions League game. When you know the size of the EUFA advertisement reduces the capacity, as well as EUFA acquiring more seats because of press requirements.

And it's their fault?

If you say so..

I looked at it, and knew it was wrong.. I even Google'd it and spelled it correctly.

Oh well. Either way, my point still stands.

So did a cup scheme member move seats and choose the OP's seat or did another city fan just buy it before he had the chance ?

I'm in the Cup Scheme for all 3 but the further we go in the UCL the more corporate seats are needed, subsequently I will be moved from my lovely padded seat in EL2 to one of those horrible nasty plastic ones. Oh City please stop playing so well I love my seat.
Dammed Champions League band waggoners

The times .. they are a changin'!

I didn't go in the Champions league cup scheme due to not knowing what the cost of the tickets would be. Easy to sign up for the Carling Cup and the FA Cup one's. I also realised that my own seat may be purchased by someone else. I was annoyed though to find that when trying to buy on line my seat was marked as sold out. However phoning the ticket office amazingly my seat was available. Of course you have to pay the extra money for doing it over the phone.

No one should be surprised though it always states on the web site that your own seat cannot be guaranteed if you are not on the cup scheme.
