Further Questions from a Newcastle forum

Re: Questions from a Newcastle forum

i honestly think that most people are looking at joe kinnear's appointment from the wrong perspective -- mike ashley, billionaire, has far more business acumen than what the common opinion suggests. i'd say that kinnear was hired for the sole purpose of transforming pardew into a white knight for the supporters.

All right lads, back again, thanks for all the replies last time around.

In preparation for the new season I thought I'd get the lay of the land from Premier League clubs before it kicks off and the majority of us are too depressed to answer a bunch of questions from a stranger.

What's a realistic aim for your team this season?

Serious title challenge, a domestic cup final and making it through the CL group stage. No pressure, Pelle!

Where do your team need to strengthen to achieve this?

We need at least one good striker to replace Tevez/Balotelli, that's a must. Depending on who may be leaving before the window closes possibly a versatile midfielder and a defender to boost the squad depth.

Which new Premier League players are you looking forward to seeing?

Navas and Fernandinho obviously, not that much big incoming business elsewhere yet, Schurrle at Chelsea maybe interesting?

Which of your players do you predict having a big season?

David Silva, the additions of Navas as a wide pacy option and Fernandinho as a powerful box to box player should stretch the opposition and give him more space to work his magic.

Which of your players do you expect to have a disappointing season?

I'm hoping none but Nasri is the most likely unless Pellegrini can work wonders with him.

Which fixtures do you immediately look for?

Home and away derbies, and the Xmas/New Year fixtures.

Which away game are you looking forward to the most/least?

Always look forward to the Swamp derby the most. The least? Probably Palace this season as it's such a drag of a journey.

What's your most memorable game against NUFC?

At home, that 3-3 draw when you had KK in charge and we had Kinkladze. Away, has to be the 2-0 in 2012 when we got one hand on the title.

Newcastle have been in the papers for all the wrong reasons again, what's your take on the Kinnear debacle?

You should be surrounding Ashley's home until he resigns! He reminds me of when Swales was our chairman, you never knew what hare-brained idea was coming next.

Which Newcastle players would you like to see in your side?

I honestly can't think of one, though Ben Arfa and Cabaye would be handy off the bench.

Pardew winds up quite a few opposition managers, what's your take on him? Is he just playing games? Or is he an Average/Bad manager with a mouth?

I actually think he is a fairly good manager but I'm not sure he needs to wind anyone up and I don't see that Newcastle gain much from it.

Where do you expect Newcastle to finish this season?

You should be in contention for a Europa spot but with all the background stuff who knows?

Thanks in advance for any and all answers. I'll be back here to collate them before sticking them on the Newcastle site before the season kicks off.

What's a realistic aim for your team this season?

The aim has to be the title realistically we may come up just short and probably will start behind Rags/Chelsea in the betting.

Where do your team need to strengthen to achieve this?

We clearly need another forward, possibly someone who can play wide left and probably one more defender.
To get these three we will need to lose a couple of players.

Which new Premier League players are you looking forward to seeing?

Ours, Navas has looked class on the few times I have seen him but have never seen Fern other than Utube.

Which of your players do you predict having a big season?

All of them I hope, Yaya should benefit from having no ACON and hopefully a bit more rest . I would love to see Silva back at his best.

Which of your players do you expect to have a disappointing season?
Hopefully none though Kolarov never fills me with optimism when on the team sheet. I hope we switch him for another defender.

Which fixtures do you immediately look for?
Rags

Which away game are you looking forward to the most/least?
I only really go to the home games in all honesty

What's your most memorable game against NUFC?
I loved the one where Elano scored the free kick, we played well that day after the previous awful season.

Newcastle have been in the papers for all the wrong reasons again, what's your take on the Kinnear debacle?

It has been a complete PR disaster insulting your fans/ customers the way he did on the radio was beyond farce. Whether or not he will deliver on the footballing side only time will tell but for someone who has spent so little time recently involved in the game and who appears to value no ones advice but his own the portents are not good.

Which Newcastle players would you like to see in your side?

Ben Arfa impresses when not injured and would make a good fit. I rate Krul highly but he would not appreciate being no2 to Hart.

Pardew winds up quite a few opposition managers, what's your take on him? Is he just playing games? Or is he an Average/Bad manager with a mouth?
I think he is a decent manager but in all honesty so are most in the premier league. Bad ones get found out quickly. Not sure he is anything really special.

Where do you expect Newcastle to finish this season?
I can't see them threatening Europe but then I did not two seasons ago. I would predict mid table but with the Kinnear shenanigans anything could happen. I do not predict relegation but with what has happened it would not surprise.

Thanks in advance for any and all answers. I'll be back here to collate them before sticking them on the Newcastle site before the season kicks off.

What's a realistic aim for your team this season?
At least one trophy and qualify from the CL group.

Where do your team need to strengthen to achieve this?
I don't think we need to strengthen, the squad we have needs a bit of filling out though.

Which new Premier League players are you looking forward to seeing?
Ours. Hurry the fuck up August.

Which of your players do you predict having a big season?
Nasri. Seriously! I've got a feeling Pele will get the best out of him.

Which of your players do you expect to have a disappointing season?
None. I expect them to give 100% every game. If they do that I am happy.

Which fixtures do you immediately look for?
Obviously the derby.

Which away game are you looking forward to the most/least?
Hate the promoted teams away, one of them always springs a surprise (Swansea/So'ton in the last 2 seasons)

What's your most memorable game against NUFC?
Only been to one NUFC away game and that was when we won the league.

Newcastle have been in the papers for all the wrong reasons again, what's your take on the Kinnear debacle?
I think Ashley is banging Kinnear's missus. Much better candidates for the job if you were to employ a DOF.

Which Newcastle players would you like to see in your side?
This sounds soooo raggish but none. I think on paper, we have a better side. Cisse has some class about him though.

Pardew winds up quite a few opposition managers, what's your take on him? Is he just playing games? Or is he an Average/Bad manager with a mouth?
I don't mind him. Decent manager. I thought he was fucked over at So'ton.

Where do you expect Newcastle to finish this season?
Mid table.

Silva, Richards as he missed last season. Rodwell will surprise non-City fans. Garcia another player it's become fashionable to dismiss.

Title rivals

I can't really improve on most of the earlier responses, but wanted to chime in on this:

Newcastle have been in the papers for all the wrong reasons again, what's your take on the Kinnear debacle?

I remember saying at the time - this sounds like something we would have done during the Swales era.

So to that point, hang in there Geordies! We follow our clubs all our lives and what we learn along the way is that we'll have crap managers, crap owners, crap "directors of football" inflicted on us along the way. But it doesn't last forever. The crap ends up getting flushed eventually.

I always liked and respected your lot in general and wish you guys the best.

All right lads, back again, thanks for all the replies last time around.

In preparation for the new season I thought I'd get the lay of the land from Premier League clubs before it kicks off and the majority of us are too depressed to answer a bunch of questions from a stranger.

What's a realistic aim for your team this season?
Top 3 (MC, MU, CFC in some order), Domestic Cup, Beyond the Group Stages of the CL (depending on whether we get Group of Death AGAIN, as we are a third seed!!).

Where do your team need to strengthen to achieve this?
Another goalscorer, and the big money ones we already have to get a few more, plus Silva/Nasri/Yaya/Rodwell/Ferni/Navas contributing some goals.

Which new Premier League players are you looking forward to seeing?
Fernandinho. Any time you spend £30M+ on a player you don't really know, you want to see what the fuss is about! Also, Higuan, if he goes to The Arse and Shurrle at Chelsea. Don't want EITHER to be successful of course!!

Which of your players do you predict having a big season?
Nastasic, who was the REAL Young Player of the Season; Silva, who didn't get a break last summer and it showed for much of the season; Fernandinho, who is supposed to be the high speed link between defence and attack.

Which of your players do you expect to have a disappointing season?
Nasri, Garcia.

Which fixtures do you immediately look for?
First, last, Rags Home and Away, any time we have two at home on the trot, and to see where the difficult patch is going to be during the season (usually Feb/March for us!!)

Which away game are you looking forward to the most/least?
Rags, because I think we can stuff 'em. Arsenal, because we've broken that hoodoo. Sunderland and Everton, because we've created another two there!!

What's your most memorable game against NUFC?
Colin Bell, 1977, tears streaming down my face, 13 years old.

Newcastle have been in the papers for all the wrong reasons again, what's your take on the Kinnear debacle?
Ashley's buyer's remorse, for Pardew's 8 year deal!

Which Newcastle players would you like to see in your side?
TBH, I don't think ANY of them could get in, but as players on the bench, Ben Arfa and Cabaye look like potential game changers.

Pardew winds up quite a few opposition managers, what's your take on him? Is he just playing games? Or is he an Average/Bad manager with a mouth?
Like his passion for the game. I think ALL managers try to get an edge these days...Pelle's will be quiet calm with steely gaze!! I think he is average at worst.

Where do you expect Newcastle to finish this season?
Hate to say it, but if you don't get some performances from key players, you will struggle badly. I don't see a big attacking threat and I think your defence is pretty weak. I'm not in the Coloccini camp, I'm afraid. Krul had a great season last season and saved you from a relegation battle. 15th, I hope, because I hate to see top tier supporters hurt!

Thanks in advance for any and all answers. I'll be back here to collate them before sticking them on the Newcastle site before the season kicks off.
Thanks for asking and I ALWAYS look forward to seeing Newcastle come to Manchester. This year will be especially tasty with all the changes!!

What's a realistic aim for your team this season?

There or there abouts for the league, advancement in the CL and good run out for the younger players in the domestic cups.

Where do your team need to strengthen to achieve this?

Another striker and I think we are there.

Which new Premier League players are you looking forward to seeing?

That young chap Everton signed on loan from Barca, Van Wolfswinkel, in our own team got to be Navas.

Which of your players do you predict having a big season?

Aguero, as long as he stays injury free will be top goal scorer.

Which of your players do you expect to have a disappointing season?

Kolarov if he stays.

Which fixtures do you immediately look for?

Rags, opening game, last game. In that order.

Which away game are you looking forward to the most/least?

Everton away least, think Cardiff away will be cracker!

What's your most memorable game against NUFC?

2 stand out for me. My very first MCFC away game with my grandfather in 2001 when we beat you lads 1-nil on Shearers come back thanks to Goater goal and more recently the game when Yaya stepped up and scored the two goals in our title winning chase. Also loved the way your fans came up and wished us best of luck after the game. Great day.

Newcastle have been in the papers for all the wrong reasons again, what's your take on the Kinnear debacle?

Really feel for you lads, hope you all get through it and he can leave your club as soon as possible.

Which Newcastle players would you like to see in your side?

Ben Arfa or Santon.

Pardew winds up quite a few opposition managers, what's your take on him? Is he just playing games? Or is he an Average/Bad manager with a mouth?

Really don't know what to make of him to be honest. Haven't followed his mind games closely so I'll take note more this season.

Where do you expect Newcastle to finish this season?

Top 8 and above would be fair for you guys, would like to see you back in Europe however.

Thanks in advance for any and all answers. I'll be back here to collate them before sticking them on the Newcastle site before the season kicks off.

All the best and good luck for next season!
