Future Strikers

Honest opinion now
How many on here would be happy to just swap Jesus for kun when he is ready to retire .what I mean is that we just buy a second choice striker and not someone like Kane etc ?

No chance for me. You have to look at the tallies every season to see just how crucial Aguero and his goals are.

We'll need a 30 goal a season (every season, guaranteed) striker once Kun leaves, which is what he has provided us with - I just don't see that in Jesus.

Well, until he has the run of games Kun has had, we will never know. For me, he should take over the #1 spot post Kun as I think he has it in him. And, as someone else pointed out, you dont have a player of his ability happy and being #2 year in year out

It was interesting to see the reports this weekend that we value Jesus at 100m to put off interest from Bayern. Is the value come from us? and if so are we prepared to sell him?

I’m always dubious about this type of report. It doesn’t sound to me like City’s way of doing things. Nor do I see why we’d have our heads turned by, say, £100m as opposed to £60m. We either want to keep him or we don’t.

We don’t toady up to the Press, we don’t need to sell and it’s not in our interests to destabilise Jesus in any way.

But where has the report come from, must be us, Bayern or Jesus's reps?

Just seemed a strange one to me, especially if Bayern are also negotiating for Sane as well.

If Sane leaves, I’d take Rashford/Rashford. He’s always impressive when played as a wide forward.

Martinelli at Arsenal might be worth keeping an eye on. Got another 2 so far tonight.
Presumably we were well aware of this lad when he was in Brazil so I would love to have had access to the reports on him as to why we didn't go for it. Was a cheap fee, we could have loaned him to Girona and it seems a good path back to City.

Maybe I will give the scousers a ring, see if they still have a login for the scouting website.

Jesus is a year younger than Kun was when we signed him and is only about 40 career goals behind where Sergio was at that point having played significantly fewer games (not to mention the injuries he’s had).

Looks fully capable of stepping up if you ask me. We should be looking at bringing another younger forward to push him on once Sergio leaves.

It might be that Pep sees Stirling as the answer up front when Kun goes. Stirling is improving dramatically as a finisher and his goals tally the last 2 seasons is up there with the best strikers

there should be no one else on the list until every possible avenue to get M'Bappe is exhausted
Imo, Mbappé is more comfortable as a "wide forward" or second striker than in an Aguero/pure striker role. He is not very good playing with his back against the goal or between the defenders. He likes being in movement, having space for his pace and end up dropping deep a lot when he has to play upfront and dezoning a lot.

Werner 3 goals 3 assists today, rumoured to have a 30 mil release clause. No-brainer. Would piss Bayern off as well (who are losing 5-1).
