i mean, as soon as gundo left kovacic was announced so to me, the message sent by the club was that he is gundo's replacement.

where the rice pursuit fits here i dont know but it might have been more of a long term play for someone the club really valued. now, unfortunately it seems we will be reactive this summer (gvardiol aside), only buy if someone leaves

I also like McAtee, but Veiga is levels ahead. Proven in La Liga, he made the team of the season. He pulled these stats off playing for a side that barely escaped relegation (thanks to Veiga). McAtee did well on his Championship loan, but there is a reason Real Madrid was looking at Veiga and not McAtee. This lad is genuinely considered one of the best U21 players in the world in his position.

He's done well in a poor team so I believe he would be an explosive player here next season. Playing with top quality players would push him to the next level.

I think they are both in the potential bracket both raw and in need of Peps magic, IMO McAtee can reach a far higher level than Veiga.
