The video further illustrates that the Brazilian league is just as (if not more) physical than the Premier League—there was quite a lot of physical play that he handled very well, not to mention a fair few literal rugby and "clear out" tackles that he shrugged/rode off.

Very excited to see him in a (mostly) sky blue shirt.

The Brazilian league is like league 2 - it's physical but in a very different way. There will be players kicking lumps out of him in brazil and making tackles every game that would be red cards in the premier league.

When he gets to the premier league though, he's going to be up against much stronger and faster players though, the level of physical conditioning will be on a completely different planet - a level of physicality he'll not have come up against.

It's likely he'll immediately be put in the gym to bulk up to deal with it, but hopefully he'll still be able to contribute while he gets there.

I will agree the pace is different, but having met (and watched) quite a few Brazilian footballers last year while on an extended business visit I would say their strength is on par with any league in the world.

Where they fall short—and what will likely take Gabi Jesus some time to get accustomed to—is the higher level tactics and player-specific defending. Teams won't just foul him into submission—they'll try to drive him toward his weaknesses at every opportunity. They'll train the previous week on how to isolate and target him, in addition to manhandle him.

Still, I think he'll more than rise to the occasion.

Message to G.Jesus....

You will become a great player for us, it might take time or you might hit the ground running. Just be thankful that you won't have any sight of the idiotic comments from a select few on this forum who will only pick on the poor and negative aspects of a young persons game

see sterling and Sane threads for evidence
