I've been quite critical of the easy chances Jesus has missed in the past. However, he's bang on form right now and deserves to start ahead of Aguero against Wolves.
Aguero was instrumental in our win against the league leaders, hardly deserves dropping really. If he's ill then fair enough but Jesus doesn't deserve to start ahead of Aguero.

I disagree about Aguero starting, even though Aguero is generally much more reliable to score. Confidence breeds confidence and Jesus needs to continue in the next game. In my humble opinion of course.

How did Mo Salah compare for goals at the same stage of his career ?

Or Ronaldo ?

Aguero ?

Higuain ?

Shearer, 23 in 118 for Southampton.

Lineker, 95 in 194 for Leicester (42 in 103 for Barca)

Henry 20 in 105 for Monaco, 3 in 16 for Juventus.

Jesus, at this age= World Class.
He is NOT world class.Another one who would have rubbished off this name had he been playing for the Rags or Scousers.

Just proves my point. If he was world class or anywhere near the level of Sergio then he would get more playing time.

He’s only been here two years, at a point he was keeping Aguero out. Aguero has had to adapt his game and step it up a level to maintain his spot.

It’s likely also much easier to keep Jesus happy in the support role than Aguero..

I`m not knocking the lad other than to say at this moment in time he is not a world class star that some people claim. He has to follow in Raheems footsteps and want to make it happen.
The biggest disappointment with him is that he doesn`t appear to have much confidence when picked to play against some of top 5/6 clubs.
Maybe that will come with maturity and maybe these last couple of games will give him that confidence.
I do have a £100 bet going that IMO he will not be here for the start of season 2021/22.
It will be worth the £100 loss if he proves me wrong.

Hopefully these goals give him some confidence going forward. We need him firing in the league and CL when called upon.

He's had a dip in form. I do worry about his confidence and how happy he is in general, but it's probably part and parcel of being a young player abroad.

I think we play better football with him in the team. But the way we are, we lack clinical finishers. And - in this league - strength. So I'd say we will get better results with Aguero.

If he goes by 2011, I'll be amazed. He's so very talented. I can't think of another forward around his age who has anything like that complete a set of technical skills.

I agree. Time travel is an incredible achievement, especially at his age.

Great to see him bagging goals, even if it was against Burton. That should do wonders for his confidence moving forward.

I think in terms of succession, we'll still see Sergio as first choice for this season and next, and then maybe in Sergio's last season with us (20-21), Gabby could become first choice. He'll still only be 23 by then (the age Sergio was when he joined us).
