I am sorry, but the phrase 'hardly put a foot wrong,' should not apply to the defender that gave up the only clear cut chance to the opposition. You said he and Clichy stood above the rest. Don't know how you reached this conclusion. In a game in which everyone played fantastically, if we were geting picky, of all 4 defenders, the least likely to be deemed to have had the best game is Lescott. Seeing as he gave up the only key chance, while Clichy saved a chance, Micah snuffed a possible Bent chance and won the corner for our first goal with his beautiful run in, and Kompany scored in addition to having a stellar play at the back.
Not saying Lesc didn't play well. But all things considered he was the least productive of the 4.
Milner, Clichy, De Jong and Mario were the standouts. And while it is arguable that someone else deserved MOM. I sincerely doubt Lescott is one of the arguables under any permutation.
