Galatasaray (H) | CL | Post-Match Thread

Well played City, job done!

We played really well in the 1st half, scored two very good goals and deserved our lead, but should've scored more. Doku's injury is a worry though and changed the way we played.
They made a game of it in the 2nd half and without any wingers we were very narrow.
We had some good chances but we're still not clinical enough and still not finding Erling's runs.
But we hung on and it's a relief (especially after last weeks calamity) that we're not in the playoffs.

Hopefully we can round the week off with a win at spurs now.

COME ON CITY!!!!

Job done, Rodri, Semenyo, Marc all rested nicely for Spuds.
The boys looked fucked second half, but thankfully did enough, avoiding the play offs is a huge bonus.
When Foden drifted to the left he linked play up nicely, maybe that’s where he will finish up.
Anyway, we live to fight another day!

Marmoush simply isn't elite level imo. For a striker, he's too indecisive and lacks killer instinct. Not good enough as a back up for Haaland, not good enough as a wide man.

Phil is trying hard but nothing is coming off for him at the moment. The dilemma is that he has to play to get his mojo back, but we can't afford to carry him too long.
Playing with 9 men at times with laurel and Hardy, and AltNouri clean through and passes to a defender, horrible decision making

He's harmless. A bit "peak performance"/Diary of a CEO (that's the modern David Brent to you FOCs) but ultimately he's a young English manager trying to do his best with a job he's underqualified for and probably falling back on motivational platitudes because he's a bit unsure of himself at this level.

I hope he does well, just not too well.
I think he comes across as a patronising ****… but I’m a FOC. Inevitable it will all come tumbling down. He won’t last 2 years.

The beeb news just had a report from the Etihad and was very positive about us, shame they didn't mention Cherki or show his goal. Game of two halves, first half very incisive with bags of energy from Doku.
Once he'd been kicked out of the game, we really vanished as an attack. Looking at Erl's goal tonight, why aren't we playing more balls in to him?
Anyway I thought the defence played well, along with big Donna, NOR played v well 1st half, Cherki lively. Need to be more clinical though.
Anyway we'll have our new lads and walking wounded back for the knockout round hopefully a late charge for glory......
The amount of similar goals scored previously in his career.... then Pep has him chinwaggin with centre halves, hoping that the rest of our team can pull the rabbit out of the hat.
Has Pep never heard the chant "feed the goat and he will score"

We come out for far too many second halves like this.
Slow, sloppy and don’t look like we’re fully concentrating.
Frustrating when you consider how well we played first half.
I disagree. We came out the first part of the second half playing like fucking idiots, but we dropped deep after 20 mins or so and started to play on the counter.

I think he comes across as a patronising ****… but I’m a FOC. Inevitable it will all come tumbling down. He won’t last 2 years.

I think that would go down as a moderate success for him. None of Maresca, Pochettino, Sarri, Lampard, Potter, Benitez, Tuchel, Di Matteo or AVB made it to 2 years.

We're just crying out for a David Silva type player, who can get a pass turn and run through the centre, not stopping and turning back at every opportunity. Doku was excellent tonight, one of the few who was moving forward, Ait Nouri as well great game

Comfortable win, first half was very impressive when Doku ran the show. Second half not as good, but Gala didn't really trouble us and City still had chances to extend the lead. All round an enjoyable evening apart from the Doku injury.
