Of course, and yes youre correct. It can feel death by a thousand passes sometimes though.

I do like football to be a but gung ho and it has been under pep, not so much the past 3 seasons though

But we are still capable of excellent football

Looking back on the game from the 60s/70s, players played 42 games in the league and cup matches, plus European football for the top teams. So I guess that players played about 55 to 60 games a season, plus cup replays could run and run, But International football seemed to be played without breaks, Also the home internationals was played in the summer.

But the biggest thing was the training and lifestyles, the players were not athletes and could drink and eat pretty much what they liked, So burnout was not a thing because you did not push your body to the limits.

Something needs to be looked at with footballers, maybe look at athletics athletes, thye have very big breaks between the big tournaments and don't train/play for 9 months nonstop like in football

That's exactly the same point as I was discussing with somebody earlier, the fact that athletes in any other sport don't have to run for 90+ minutes twice a week for most of the year.

We saw the result last season, double-figure injuries and as a result we were unable to compete. This season hasn't been much better, the planks on here who moan all the time don't understand that it not only affects the team in that we don't have out first choice XI, it also affects everybody because we're having to play players who are not necessarily fully fit, or may need resting themselves. That's on top of having to play players out of position.

There should be stricter rules around internationals, if it's a competitive match then players should only be allowed to go if they have been free of injuries for a certain amount of time, and only at the clubs behest if it's a friendly international.

I agree with your set pieces point but the rest of your opening paragraph seems a bit naive and outdated in some respects. It’s not as easy as giving it to pacy wingers to get to the byline and pull it back for our towering centre forward … it’s not 1956 mate, the game’s moved on. Defenders and tactics are so advanced now that you need subtlety and nuance beyond any normal fan’s comprehension to break teams down with the regularity that we do. “Endless sideways or backward passes” to use a boxing analogy are crucial in dismantling our opponents …. jab, feint, move in, move out, jab etc etc etc all helps to walk your opponent on to a shot. Walking in in a straight line throwing haymakers won’t get you far against a sophisticated defence.

Absolutely correct. To put it into simple terms we wouldn't have collected the haul if trophies that we have if the system didn't work.

All these idiots who think Pep has run his course needed to be careful what they wish for, because it's near certain that we're not likely to get anybody as successful again.

Lookin at three tags, they thought they just just bring anybody in and continue in the same vein when ferguson left. They've won hardly anything since.

Regarding your point about 'we play this way because we have a leaky defense', then how comes against both the rags and Bodo, did we end up still getting caught on the counter attack because our full backs were on the edge of their penalty area?? We regularly play a high line without playing attacking football, so we still get caught out without the benefits of scoring more goals by trying to be more attacking. In fact, I'd say that by using wingers to get forward rather than fullbacks, we'd have more protection defensively.

As I said previously, if you are happy with how we are playing at the moment, then we'll just have to disagree, but I know Pep and this set of players should be putting in far more convincing performances.

Hopefully it's being caused by a transition in the squad, but a part of me worries that Pep seems happy with this non-progressive football.

I never said it was just pricing. The whole exchange issue has pissed people off. The having to buy an individual membership (even for families of 4 or 5) has pissed people off. People being shifted for corporate has pissed people off. Away fans in home areas has pissed people
Off. Etc, etc, etc.

It's a culmination of all that (and more), we are reaping what we have sown over the last few seasons. How you cant possibly see that is bizarre

My sister is in that category. The individual membership requirement was the final straw and she jacked it in. She used to go to all League cup and CL games and now doesn’t go to any. Like you say, the club has been the creator of this situation all for money!
