Galatasaray (H) | CL | Post-Match Thread

Just on the boring football comment from your mates, we're top home Prem scorers, top Prem FAC scorers etc.

The football can be slow and almost turgid at times but, that's certainly not helped by the officials and teams who just don't want to play against us.
Correct. You can't just punt the ball forward if you're up against a low block, like we are most weeks. It will just come straight back at you most of the time.

Comfortable win last night.

Was a throw back to social distancing in level 3, with the spacing of vacant seats. Made life easy though and enjoyed it.
There was certainly no problem getting out of the ground. Somewhat satisfyingly, other than cheering the goals, I didn't have to get in and out of my seat for late arrivals and endless toilet attenders. Small victories I suppose!

If you go out in the play-offs or in the round 16 of the knockouts, there is not much difference
This new format of the Champions League is a joke, not only do you play more games in the league, but you also have a play-off place and then a round of 16 knockouts, so you can play 10 games to get into the last 16 or play 10 games losing in the last 16 from a top 8th place, Its Crazy

I think this is why we have struggled this season, Mix the League Cup rounds with the Champions League games and its starts to add up the amount of games we play, 10 games before Christams and 2 in january
The latter part is why it's so difficult and why the players are so knackered at this point, especially if you're struggling with a higher than average number of injuries as well. We'd already played over 30 matches by the time we met Bodo, who hadn't played for weeks.

It's not that hard to work out why we were easy to beat with the defence we had, and if we don't score early it's tough. Yet we expect a patched up team to produce the same results as a first choice XI. It's nuts.

Do you not find us boring and frustrating as hell to watch full stop these days?

Don't get me wrong, it may sound spoilt given the goal stats say otherwise, but stats can be misleading.

I'm glad you used the phrase turgid because that absolutely sums it up.

If you went to the cinema and the plot didn't progress throughout the film and was boring as hell, but there was the odd good bit, you probably wouldn't pay to watch the sequel right? you might watch it at home on TV though. That's where we're at now, in my opinion

It's truly a crazy amount of games in such a small period of time, Also add on international games and traveling and you start to think, will we hold out until may

Something has to give; the Governing Bodies and Premier League need to stop counting the money and look at the schedules. Maybe allowing teams in europe to have bigger squads and more transfer windows, also a maximum of games a player can play in a year, including international games

I don't find us great to watch all the time but, there are things out of our control as I put in my post which dictate play most of the games both home which I can understand however, mid table teams playing at home to us follow a shit game play too.

Suppose it depends and I'm not having a pop at you, how people feel about City and the connection with us.

I presumed people would of known Bodo be in the question, but still not sure how we can be possibly playing them AGAIN so soon?

Would be QF/SF in previous comps before potentially playing someone from the group we were in!
Everyone is in 1 group. We just didn't get to play all 48 teams in the single group. The group stage is merely a ranking tool.

Its potentially possible that everyone one team during the preliminary stages ended up qualifying... In that Scenario, there'd be very few teams they could play

It’s fucking nonsense all the seeding, knowing who’ll you’ll play etc etc.
put every club in a hat, out you draw no seeding you get what you’re given.
And champions only in the European cup

Not asking for much are you johhny ?

UEFA have been keen to build up their pitiful income level by the use of extensive and " innovative " remodelling.

How would your idea present a chance for the greatest team in the world to ever take part again ?

The brain-deads have to be given hope no matter how unreastic that is.

Just watching MOTD on catch up and seen Bodo beat Athletico Madrid away. No need for the Pep out contingent to apologise after I told them Bodo were a decent team
Fair play to Bodo, I don’t really understand the new format if I’m being honest but I read there is a good chance we could meet them again in the next rounds, I hope so.

Totally agree, some decent suggestions there. Players are also more susceptable to injuries and while most are maybe a little inconvenient, they could be more serious.

I get annoyed with the idiots who can't understand why we don't push on and win every match by 5 goals, or why we lose a few along the way but it's not rocket science. We simply play too many matches.

It was considered crazy if you played 7 or more matches in a month, now it's the norm and it goes on for virtually the entire season - then there are the internationals along the way. And like in any vocation it's mentally taxing too.
