there's a huge difference between success on network broadcast television and success on cable and premium, HBO-type channels. Network (ABC, NBC etc) are completely cut-throat when it comes to ratings, channels that you have to pay to watch the programming (Walking Dead on AMC, this/Boadwalk Empire/Dexter on HBO and Showtime, respectively) have much bigger budgets and a lot more wiggle room when it comes to ratings.

There probably won't be many complaints by both the HBO and Martin camps if GoT gets to the Red Wedding and ends it there if they feel the show isn't doing good enough.

Also as a word of warning do not go on IMDB or pretty much any other website to look up A game of thrones. As the TROLLS are out in force and posting spoilers all over the place. Even if you think its a safe thread the twatting TROLLS are using fake thread titles and then posting spoilers. Or even worse posting spoilers in the thread titles.

Yeah, the Red Wedding is one of the most f'd up things I've ever read so try and avoid spoilers if you don't read the books and just watch the TV show. Hopefully it gets to that stage, all dependent on the success of this new season but the hype for the show is so big that I can see it going on and on (like Dexter).

it'll be interesting if the show continues to be a success, at the rate its going the book series won't be finished if the show remains on it's 1-book-per-year schedule. Though A Storm of Swords and the later books could probably be a season/season and a half because they are so vast.

Hopefully it'll get Martin to write at a brisker pace. I've read somewhere he will not give the rights to anyone else to finish the saga if he dies before he finishes book 7.

No idea why lie to me did not catch on. I really liked that show. Stargate Universe has its good episodes but most were bad/average/predictable. The plot did have major holes, but none the less it was entertaining.

Just got Game Of Thrones, watched 3 episodes and i am really liking it.

I've never come so close to putting down and giving up on a book half way through that I was enjoying so much before in my life when that happened.

Was deadwood a HBO show? Cause that was quality and got cancelled :(
