i havent read any of this thread, just in case of any spoiler

im going away holiday for couple weeks, want to get a box set - is this the real mccoy ? as good as sopranos / madmen ?

imo, yes it is a great show.

It has the highest downloads of any show ever if memory serves and most downloaders usually know whats good and whats not, so a good gauge.

On one private tracker alone it has 20k hits per ep and smashes madmen out of the water download wise.

If you watch the first series and enjoy it then buy the books and give the first 2 a read.
The second season is still brilliant but the book does a great job of building the history and character development.
Makes a lot of issues clear which are just brushed over in the TV show.

Quite simply, the best set of books I've read in years... TV series is up there with best of HBO (The Wire, Six Feet Under et al).

Watched Blackwater before and just when you thought it couldnt get any better it did!!
So many highlights but best was the Bronn/Dog exchanges
Outstanding TV
