I stopped reading this thread ages ago because despite spoilers too much of the plot was leaking out. I very nearly bought the Books last week and now I am glad I didn't.

Last nights episode was the best in all three series as far as I am concerned.

I've tried my hardest to steer people away from the books. The books are awesome its just if you don't read them and just watch the tv show first you'll enjoy imo probably some of the best tv ever made.

When game of thrones the tv show is done go for your life read the books. As there is some brilliant backstory missing from the tv show. Just be prepared to be happy, sad, angry, horney and hungry as fuck (the constant descriptions of the food doesn't half make you hungry) all in the space of a chapter or two.

There's no way I could wait another 2-4 years to find out the conclusion of the plot when I know I can read the books within a month or two.

I think challenger is quite right, i've never read the books, I want to know but I don't want to spoil the tv show.

That's the problem with the books though the plot isn't concluded its still on going and the wait is absolutely killing me for the next book. I've never been this bad waiting on the next series of a tv show compared to waiting on a book. I think the big difference is i know the next series of a TV show is just next year. The book though fook knows how long till Martin finishes writing it.

Don't know if i have mentioned it before but Peter Dinklage and Lena Headey will be at the London film & comic con in July.

Anyone read any of GRRM's other books? I'm uptodate with A Song Of Ice and Fire and I'm off on holiday this week and I still haven't picked anything to read.

I have read quite a lot of his books, if you like the whole westeros world then the hedge knight and the other tales of Dunc and egg are worth reading,Fevre dreams is also quite good,he did a book called armaggedon rag which i heard was good but not had chance to read yet

-- Tue Jun 04, 2013 5:56 pm --

I found a lot of people read the books to better understand the tv show because of the sheer volume of characters, then fail because the books have about three times the number of characters.

Daily Fail going apeshit over The Red Wedding

Heres a quote

Furthermore the scene has left viewers, who pay to subscribe to the cable and satellite channel, not only sickened by it's bloody nature but surprised as it has drifted from the George R.R. Martin’s A Storm of Swords, which the third of the seven planned books in the Game of Thrones series.

Complete bollocks. The Only difference between that scene on TV and the book is Robb Starks wife

Stabbing a woman with a bun in the oven was a huge change from the book

Sorry meant to add Robbs wife in the books isnt pregnant and wasnt at the wedding if i remember righty
If fact that character isnt even in the book so when it was revealed in the show she was pregnant it was also going to end badly for her

It just really wound me up that quote saying how much its "drifted" from the book. Well of course it has! The books are huge and if they tried to put everything in tv show there would be at least 30 episodes per season!

I agree, but i also fell they went for cheap shock value by stabbing her, the red wedding is shocking enough as it is but the trouble lies in the fact that they cut out most of Robs bannermen so they lacked people to slaughter, where the fuck was the Greatjon and the Smalljon, both Umbers was in season 1, where was Maege Mormont, if we had got to know these characters and leaders of big houses in the north, like we did in the books then the whole thing would have had the epic shocking go fuck yourself George Martin moment that the book created. Now i know people nerd raged but to me the tv viewers just lost Rob and his Mam,the book readers lost all hope,5 years of reading smashed in 1 fucking chapter.
