Game of Thrones season 5

I'm pretty patient.

Sometimes.

Maybe.

But, GoT is really dragging for me. We watched all 4 episodes on Monday, and still felt as if nothing really moved on. Maybe it's just because I know the direction in which the story goes, maybe not.

It looks great, and there are a lot of great parts in the story shown so far, however it just does not compare to other great/good series to me.

What a horribly huge world to have to adapt into a TV show; I can't blame the show's creators for their efforts.

Yeah it must be really tough. I read they have coloured cards for all the story threads, they have run out of colours and are using yellow polka dotted cards for one of them, which sourcing them in itself has been an issue. It has the largest cast and crew of any show ever, I think some of the book readers need to cut a bit more slack, changes are inevitable, although i'd have liked to see Barristan go through them all as easy as a dagger cuts cheese in e4 s5 ;-) They have the rest of this series (following the others of starting slowly) and another 2 to wrap up the story, they know the ending, they have about 25 hours of TV to get there, so for time, logistics and financial reasons, some storylines have had to go. You cant have a series going at 100 mph all the time, it needs to slow down to create suspense and pace the show properly or the end of the series will be just like the end of any other episode as if you are already flying along, the ability to shock is diminished. A series like Breaking Bad got pacing just right IMO.

What will be interesting is if HBO go for spin off series, where lost storylines can be told and the wider world expanded upon. This is very much a possibility as the audience of the show and fanatics of the books will create the demand. George RR Martin is very likely to finish the books after the TV show has ended, as he can not and will not let the creators fully know his ending (he changes his mind about the story as he writes) but they have agreed how it should finish. The shows creators know who Jon Snow's mother is for example. The books and the show will diverge even further from the end of this series.

Really wish HBO would just make the decision to release all the episodes at once, tried my hardest to space out watching those 4 leaked episodes a bit so I could savour and absorb the series that little bit more but ended up watching them all in the space of 5 days. This show seriously is like crack, read 3 of the books think I might just skip to A Dance with Dragons I'm that impatient! The actress that plays Cersei has an exceptional skill (They're all pretty much great) of getting me to love/loath her in equal measure. Just in general a fantastic show - best currently on TV by a country mile!

I'll be honest i was expecting this skill to be attributed to her lack of gag reflex.

It's pretty boring. Massively overrated. In 5-10 years times will people be talking about this show? I doubt it, just like Avatar movie everyone was raving was the best movie since slice bread a few years ago.. it is good for the moment but it won't age well. Not a legendary series in my opinion but time will tell.

Really enjoyed the first four TV series.

Could not wait till series 5 so went on a marathon reading session of all the books before series 5 released.

Strange feeling now as I am not enjoying the TV series as much as I had previously. Books can cover so much more details, relationships etc etc.

Cant wait for the next book to be published I wish he would pull his finger out his arse and finish it!!!
