I'm a bit gutted they're rushing through this series, in previous years we'd have got a few hours of that 8 all together on screen bickering or having fun drinking and fighting. Now I wouldn't be surprised if that quest is over in the first half of next week.
Unfortunately I agree, and also as we have had no major likable charactor deaths yet (bar Olena and that was very civilised).
and tge sand snakes who were annoying I cannot see all of them coming back.
I would hooe these 8 are now gon a stay together as a dirty dozen/inglorious bastards type team, also would like to see Arya and the Hound reunited and Jon to at least go back to Winterfell before the end
It's now starting to feel more like a well-produced fan fiction, rather than a TV show based on the writing of G.R.R. Martin. Whilst it's still the best thing on TV, it's definitely dipped in quality. For example:
- The way characters now seem to be able to teleport across Westeros (a symptom of the series being rushed, I guess)
- The scenes that seem to be purely about appeasing TV fans, such as the sparring between Brienne and Ayra, or Gendry's weird and unnecessary reappearance ("Yeah, sure, I'll come and fight these White Walkers at a drop of a hat, Davos"...)
- Tyrion's meeting with Jaimie was terribly written. He - the most wanted man in the city - turns up at King's Landing in broad daylight, somehow makes contact with Bronn to set up a meeting, and then manages to get into the keep. In past series we would've been shown how this was achieved, and it would have been smart and made sense.
- Jon discovering the Children of the Forest paintings was a little too convenient. As with the Tyrion/Jaimie meeting and much of this season, it was all a bit deus ex machina.
- Had that Episode 4 battle occurred in any other season, at least one of either Bronn or Jaimie would have died. The writers are now miraculously sparing too many major characters - again, I suspect, to appease TV fans.
- Jon and Davos know that fire kills wights. They discussed it in the first episode. So, why not ask Dany to send at least one of her Dragons to Eastwatch with them?!
As a fan I'm really enjoying the current series; I'll always enjoy GoT. But from an objective and critical perspective, I think it's been very weak so far. It plays more like a Marvel film or series, with big characters doing 'badass' things to excite fanboys.
