If we turned down 40m for Modric we'd probably do the same for Bale, he's what, four years younger and the same number of years on his contract?

I honestly think the only club he'll end up at is Real Madrid anytime soon. Money-wise there is you, PSG and Madrid that can afford him. You folks don't offer the experience that Bale would want in my opinion, he has spoke about interest in playing abroad in the future and who can blame him? It would probably be a great experience for him, Manchester doesn't have the same draw, and PSG can't offer him the same standard of football/prestige as Madrid so I'd put money down that if he moves in the next 2/3 seasons it'll be to Madrid. As long as Bale does as best as he can whilst he's here I wouldn't begrudge him to compete at the highest level with Madrid in 3 seasons or so.

If I was Bale and my club had just slapped a £150M price tag on me, I'd be straight on to my agent and asking why I wasn't getting the wages to go with my apparent status.
Spurs seem to be very good at putting superstar prize tags on their players, whilst paying them wages similar to a mid table journeyman.
