Gareth Bale

FFP means we're going to find it hard to compete with these teams for a while. :/

Of course they're are 'entitled' to spend £50million on a player because of how many Chinese buy their shirts.

Why would they buy bale? Ribery is a better player, and the hero of the team. On the other side they rotate between muller, top scorer at some European competition i think, and robben, another amazing player, cant even get a game. They have another winger called Shaquiri, who is young and decent who needs to be given game time. Unless its a swap deal, I can't see him going to bayern.

If Ronaldo recouped his transfer fee with shirt sales, I'm sure we could do something similar, especially with Txiki Begiristain and how he marketed Messi. I don't think his wages would be that extortionate either.
Maybe he'd never reach the level of Ronaldo, but he has better individual stats for his first 100 Premiership games in a worse team. If United can't shift Nani, they probably wouldn't go for Bale.

If we don't, I'd love to see a cheeky bid for Viktor Fischer, he looks something special.

I always thought Bale was overrated.

Changed my mind now though.

Offer Spurs Tevez and Kolorov ( and I really dont want to see either of them go); plus cash - and you see both Spurs and City step up a level.

Age

Age?

Müller is some months younger - homegrown, has bags of experience (about 40 caps, 40 matches in the CL, 2 big tournaments, 2 CL finals) and has 11 goals and 11 assists this season in 1617 minutes playing time in the league - one every 73 minutes. Apart of his shooting crisis last year is in the top of the scorer lists every year since he started his career and has more goals and assists since 2009 as anybody else in the Bayern team. Has renewed his contract (that was running to 2015) until 2017 short before Xmas.

And if it is for Chinese shirts... - I think that the winner of the young player award and the golden ball of the last World Cup sells enough kits in Asia, too...

Bale - does not speak the language, does not know the league, no CL experience, no big tournaments, 13 goals, 4 assists, 1931 minutes playing time in the EPL - one every 113 minutes.

Ribery is 29 - he will play on this level at least the next two or three years - and has contract until then. Robben has contract until 2015. Shaqiri until 2016 (he is 21).

I could understand if Guardiola wants one of the young spanish midfielders like Isco, Munian... - why an overpriced british talent? In a country in which there is an abundance of offensive midfielders - there is some very promising coming through in the club, too.

Actually I only believe transfers when I see them on the Bayern homepage. Not before. As much as I know they have not even had closer talks with Guardiola regarding transfers - a meeting will take place somewhen in the next days. The only thing that is known is that he is pretty satisfied with the current squad and their possibilities. That he might want to add two or three players and that 2 or 3 players will leave Bayern after this season.

I dont think we would sanction the move given the huge investment needed, however,it would be one more excellent reason to replace Mancini.

Spend 50 million on him, well worth it. If we don't United will and we'll regret it for 5 - 6 years as we struggle to keep up.

Anyone who doesn't think that Bale would be a good investment is pretty stupid.
Pros:
-Fast (we only have Clichy and Sinclair who are fast)
-A very good dribbler
-His shooting is fantastic from close range or short range
-His free kicks and corners are brilliant
-He's a winger (obviously) which is something we're lacking this season
-He'll turn Dzeko into a 20+ goal a season striker.
-He'll also create more goals for Kun
-Pretty versatile, can play left back, left wing or just in behind a main striker
-Young, still has 5 or 6 years until he reaches his peak

Cons:
-Expensive
-Diver (something we don't really want associated with Manchester City)

I think that Mancini should take a very strong stance with Bale and his diving.
If he dives, he gets fined or doesn't play next game (or maybe something not quite so extreme). But his talent is obvious, the guy is world class, or at least on his way to being world class. His value is only going to go up over the next few years.

Can't help but feel we missed our chance last summer after Rednapp was sacked, we should've took the plunge then, now his value is soaring.

Probably I am one of stupid ones.
I think he is hugely overrated. He is a decent player, but no way he costs over 50mil. What has he done to earn the world class tag? Just hyped up by the agents, sponsors and the tabloids. He hasn't proved that he is a world class.
