Gareth Bale

As a player, I don't dispute that he would be a great addition to any team. However, I think realistically he would not choose city. Add to this the fact of many financial implications.

Possibly agree that if he did become available that we would not be the only ones interested and we might not be his first choice.

However if Chelsea and PSG can spend big then I think we can as well. Remember Mario is off the books and Kolo to follow. They were big earners so Bales wage wouldnt make any difference to the wage bill I dont think. And the players we need this summer are in the £30/£40m bracket - we might only need two but if we dont buy them we will be left behind.

Paying £15m for a player worth £5m or something along those lines is just pointless now. Pay £40m for Bale, Pay £40m for Falcao or Cavani and then a few minor squad changes and additions from the academy7 and I think we are good to go.
I can see what your saying, however. I think that Bale and his representatives will realise his value and demand incredible sums of money IF he were to leave spurs. He knows that clubs would meet his demands.

Can any one explain to me why so many people here seem preoccupied with how much players will cost us? Its not your money - we are the richest club in the world, owned by people who could afford all of the top 6 clubs together if the rules allowed and have united as a feeder club...............why then should we be bothered whether bale costs 35m or 80m? we need the best players and you have to pay for that - didnt last summer show us anything?!

I totally agree with you but like i've said before, Levy's the problem, not the money!

Similar player to Bale for much less money?

Unless we are planning a very big departure from our current syle of play ie posession based football (or the manager is sacked) then he would be a pointless signing

What use is pace when you are playing against a team that parks the bus?

He would give us a useful plan B for teams that press us high up the pitch , giving an outlet for the ball over the top

but you dont pay 50-60m for a useful plan B

We need a clinical finisher with superb off the ball movment....someone who can find that half yard in the penalty and finish off the intricate movement we have around the opponents box

Someone who can join in with the technical play of out attacking midfield who doesn't look out of place (ie Dzeko)

If we are to become a counter attacking team that sits deep and hits teams with pace on the break then definately sign Bale...but I cant see it with the current manager as Silva/Nasri would become redundant

I think you under-estimate Bale's ability 2bh, and I think we will evolve our formation as it's gone stale and we're clearly lacking and I think that will have been a subject talked about in recent weeks in the offices.

Bale, would be an astounding addition, all football is based on possession, its how we use it. Also, he would provide an extra dimension to our counter attacking play. Even at £40 million based on his age, he would be a very good signing. I firmly believe he would have countered RVP at the rags and given us another title and progress out of the group stage in the champions league. Add say Vidal and Lavezzi and we would have what we need to win the league again. That said, Tixxi, will have a lot of names and players on his list, a good percentage that I've never heard of, but will be a vast improvement on what we have.

Robben is awesome, yet can be very incosistent. He is also a bit older than Bale and Reus.

I disagree. Robben is the bollocks. He either scores or creates in nearly every game.

Problem with him is his attitude. Out and out wanker apparently.

Robben is quality but he does have attitude problems(Nasri??) and,at 6 yrs older than Bale,he neither makes financial sense and nor does he have the same marketing appeal.

Bale is a player on the up,Robben the opposite.
