Gareth Barry is City's Darren Fletcher, says Lou Macari

he might have a point if barry was fucking useless and scottish.

stick to serving in your chippy macari you stupid old twat.

Fletcher is not as good as Barry,I agree with that, but the job Fletcher does for that mob is being vastly underated on this thread. If you can bear it, look at last years swamp derby, just before the 1st goal, DF is the one geeing all the scum players up and telling them where to be.

Fletcher is playing really well just now, to deny that is just stupid. Hopefully he has an off game on Sunday.

As for how important he is to that lot, look how much he was missed in the CL final.

Okay-let's put it another way.
Better than Ireland?No.
Better than De Jong?No.
Better than Barry?No.
Better than SWP?No.

And if you really believe that Fletcher would've made a difference against the likes of Iniesta and Xavi then........:-)

Sorry mate but Barca were so superior all over the pitch that night it would've been like stopping the Mersey estuary with a sandbag.

Fletcher only gets away with his physical style because he plays for the Rags, he has to tone it down in Europe or for Scotland because he'd have two yellows in the first 20 minutes of any game he plays.

Fletcher and Carrick will be targetting SWP and Ireland on Sunday for some rough stuff, I just hop the ref is strong enough to dish out yellows when they're deserved.

Lets not forget Lou Macari is in the same mould as Mickey Thomas Paddy Crerand Tommy Docherty and Arthur Albiston spotted the connection yet if you havent all TWATS.

darren fletcher is phil nevile & luke chadwick's love child.

in fact can someone do one of those clever morphing photo shop things to prove thus.

None of you have been watching Fletcher the last year or so then.

I thought he was a shocking player a couple of seasons back, he was put out on the right and lacked any drive, pace and aggression.
Since he has been moved into the middle he has improved dramatically, he stops the other teams playing, makes the simple pass, makes driving runs and scores the odd goal.
To say he is shit is just showing a lack of football knowledge, hes a very good player who is ideal for a derby or big game, look at his performances in the chelsea, arsenal and big european nights.

I think he might score on sunday ;)

Fletcher has somehow turned himself into a top player. And I really mean that.

It's strange because it's not even like the Ireland situation, where we all saw that Stevie had a great deal of talent. Fletcher was a bit of a laughing stock for a long time, particularly when he was initially thought of as Beckhams replacement on the right.

But he's a quality player now. The energy and pressing he brings to the United midfield shouldn't be underestimated.

Hold on because we dont agree that a player is good it shows lack of footballing knowledge? If he is such a good player why has no other team sniffed around him? and dont say its because he wouldnt be sold because we all know thats not true.

Just because we dont all bow down at the feet of yourselves and say all your players are amazing does not show a lack of footballing knowledge it shows an objective opinion and in my opinion he is not a good player and any praise he deserves is purely because he plays for yourselves.

Case in point keiron richardson, plays for you answer to englands probs on the left, doesnt play for you cant even get in sunderlands team, just because they are protected and praised by sir alex does not make them good players, do you genuinely think if he was english he would even get close to englands midfield.

Fletcher may well have his qualities, but to compare him to Barry is just plain daft. Barry's in a different league...

He just isn't/wasn't a right sided midfielder, hes improving everytime I've seen him and has been MOTM more times than most the last year or so.
Hes not gonna stand out like a rooney or robinho but every team needs a fletcher
