Gareth Barry...yay or nay?

Armchair fan!!!

Barry's been brilliant and even when hes not havin as good a game compared to his normal high standards hes much better than what we have had in the past!
 
Im just the odd 12/13 hours late reading this one, but probably the most way-off-the-mark OP ive seen for a while.

Im convinced the OP will realise the folly of this thread once he's seen said player live.

imo, Barry has been excellent and for overall effectiveness by far our best mid-midfielder this season.
 
Whilst he hasn't looked outstanding in the last two games, that's because he set such a high standard in all the previous ones. Ade stole the limelight in the early games, Bellers has in the last few, but Barry (also Toure I might add) has been a fantastic signing. He might not get the headlines, but he gives us something all over he pitch. There a few better all round midfielders in the game.

So yay.
 
One of our best buys, runs the show and dominates the midfield, one of the first on the team sheet easily, pretty daft thread tbph.

I dont think Gareth Barry is all that.

I dont think he's a bad player,I just dont see him as the be all and end all.

I think he was supposed to pick up that rag **** for both goals and didnt.I also know he was at fault for Dunney scoring the other night.

He has given away some horrendous passes.

He also seems too deep.

Also his concentration seems a real issue and he looks dazed a lot and tends to ball watch.

As of now I'd have Nige and Ireland as my midfield ahead of him...and in the role he plays I'd have a fully fit Johnno ahead of him(I know its asking a lot)...and I'd have VK in mf ahead of him.



So i ask, is it just me or is he a weak link.Remember I'm not saying he's a bad player,just that he isnt all that.

Thoughts for or against?

i think he does a better job than joey barton.....ffs
 
He is quietly effective as with england he get's on with his job and although it may not get him the plaudits ala Ade and Bellamy for us or Gerrard and Lampard for England he will always remain for this club and country one of the 1st names on the team sheet.

Best signing of the decade and a snip at £12m
