Gareth Barry

Eventually I can see Milner replacing him in the midfield trio.

Like I said in my Milner thread, I think these two should already be fighting it out for a place in the middle. Milner can tackle just as well as Barry but is more dangerous on the ball. However, Barry has these spurts of form where he is suddenly top class.

Bursting down the left should be Balotelli or Johnson (if he is switching wings) IMO.

But this would mean Silva would be playing on the right which isn't where he'll flourish.

On our wide, big Pitch and with only Ten Men -against one of the best Footballing, passing teams I have ever seen; I think Barry and Milner were always going to be on a hiding to nothing. NDJ can still get his tackles in. I thought he did well today.
yeh i agree mate still think we lack a ball player with a engine in centre mid whats happened to mj have you heard owt m8

He's great against the footballing sides usually and poor against the worse teams. I think the game was too stretched for him today tbh, as someone else said, if he was a quicker and a tad more agile he'd be an absolutely brilliant player.

I think Milner moving to the centre will only happen when Kolarov is ready to play. When he's back, Kolarov and Richards will bomb forward to provide the width, and Silva will play at the tip of a diamond, behind Balo and Tevez. Milner, Yaya, Barry and De Jong will fight it out for the 3 midfield spots. Milner's just "doing a job" until we have the players back to be able to change formation and scrap the wingers (Adam Johnson will be nothing more than an impact sub this season, imo).

I hope this ^^ is what will happen.

Hart
Richards, Toure, Kompany, Kolarov
De Jong
Yaya, Milner
Silva
Tevez, Balotelli

Looks a strong team to me :)
