I think Lescott, Kompanny, Toure and (eventually) Boateng will be good enough to win the league if you go off our current defensive record, however I don't know how they can do in the CL. If we do need a 'CL' defender than is this Cahill? In my opinion no.

Not his preferred or best position which suggests that given a run at his natural position he will do even better then he did in the WC. Thanks for helping make my point.

Ummm CB. Isn't this a thread about that position?
What a pointless signing this would be. Lescott is miles better and I honestly think Boyata is a superior player too, we have Boateng, Richards who can fill in as well. Plus it's not like we're struggling with the home grown quota. Would be a very unnecessary and disappointing buy for me.
