Where are the facts that Hughes would have got us into the top four? Is Lineker basing it on his false fact that Hughes had only lost one game (it was actually two!)? Well Hughes' defensive tactics were poor. We drew far too many games under Hughes. Three wins and two defeats is better than a win and four draws, whether that's an unbeaten run or not it's still two points worse off and that run of 8 draws is what did us for fourth!
Okay I agree that we petered out towards the end of last season but we played United and Spurs and had no goalkeeper, that's not the same as being 2-0 down at home to Burnley who were relegated or really struggling to even get a shot in on goal against Hull at home who were also relegated! And don't forget the only Mancini player we had last season was AJohnson, the rest of em were Hughes' team.
I wasn't a Hughes out-er, but I wasn't his biggest fan, and to be honest he wasn't good enough!
Mancini has now got his own players and has got Hughes' players playing the Mancini way. We are MILES better defensively, we can defend corners and have only conceded a daft penalty and a total freak goal, that's it in 270 minutes of football - that's without our two new full backs and against all teams, bar Wigan, who I think will be top half teams!

The mahogany fuck has publicly acknowledged that he loves golf more than football and - crucially - that he is more knowledgeable about the former.
I've seen several occasions when a young player has made a name for himself in the Championship or lower tiers and after his debut in the Prem (or a cup game against a team from the Prem) either Linekar or Lawrenson will say something like 'I wasnt aware of this guy before today....'
They have the knowledge of a ten-year-old Shoot reader and anything beyond Rooney or Drogba and they are hopelessly out of their depth.

Absoulutely right, they also forget that clueless had one season in charge where he took a decent side put together by sven from 8th postion into 17th by christmas. Pricks like liniker conveniently forget about that first season under Hughes and just how much of a failure it was. We lost a year because of his "friend".
