Gary Neville’s restaurant in Leeds gone into liquidation.

You can see how very rich footballers lose their fortunes. Look at Neville, he's often held up by the media as one of the more intelligent footballers. He had a very well paid career in football then went straight into another well paid career as a pundit. Riches beyond the majority of working people. Not content he starts getting involved in a few businesses he knows not a great deal about. How long before he's in the bankruptcy courts?
Not soon enough, the rat faced little prick

Gary Neville aside, this is always a worry for pubs and restaraunts. You gotta pay you rent, staff, produce, feck it overheads. I really don't know how most do it and survive. Not even a former professional footballers can cook (no pun intended) the books to make this work.

Approx 40% of Premier league footballers go bankrupt within 5 years of finishing their career
Yes, but there’s a very good reason for that, namely that a bankrupt’s pension isn’t part of their realisable estate, save where there is evidence of fraud, so it’s a straightforward way of pressing the reset button.

They all plough loads into their pension, which they can (iirc) get at by the time they are 35. So very few of these ex-pros will be destitute, and many significantly better off by way of their bankruptcy.
