Gas & Electricity

These prices are scary as fuck. Up by £700 a year. News said they will go up by average £700 a year again in October. Folk won't be able to manage it. This is madness. Will certainly see less of those fancy German cars on lease deals and should see some sense restored to housing market with prices dropping which will help young uns onto the ladder finally.
Hospitality will go bump, who the fuck can afford to go out! People getting back on their feet after Covid will tighten their vents, I noticed a surge in people getting stuff done on their houses etc plus booking holidays can see all this drying up if people have to find £100s to just survive through the winter.

Energy needs to be nationalised now, fuck the shareholders off. No government should let the populace live in cold houses. How will pensioners at home all day manage this?
This Government doesn’t give a fuck basically, let’s be honest the more dead pensioners from hypothermia means money saved on pensions . They are putting political beliefs above the welfare of its citizens.

Neither do the energy companies mate, and loads of politicians have a financial interest in the energy industry.

People need to realise they’re both bending us over, and it’s going to get much much worse in the future, they probably think Joe Public has a bit too much ‘bling’ , so they’ll take a bigger slice of your pie, thank you very much, greed, pure and utter greed.

As a nation we're just far too meek, compliant and obedient, if everyone simply refused to pay their next energy bills what are they going to do? Cut everyone off?

People could pay minus the price hike. So they're paying for fuel prior to the rip off hike.

Got my smart meter on and been keeping eye on it today. Spent £5.50 so far today and we were out from 8.30-5.30. My mum has to stay warm so god knows what she has used. The worry is making her so stressed out even through at the moment she can afford it. Those who can’t must be having some awful choices to make.
Does you no good keep checking on it though mate, I'm the same as we only had one fitted a few weeks ago, novelty will soon wear off hopefully

Yeah I don’t usually. I just wanted to see what the jump was like and it was quite a jump! I can afford it but absolutely feel for those who are having to make choices or stay cold.

We moved into a new house last year and it had gas and electric smart meters already fitted. Hate the things, can't get them to remove it. Wife has unplugged now as it stresses her out too much.

My fixed deal runs out in 3 weeks, can't log on to their site for 3 days now to even get a clue as to what to expect to pay or have to put aside. I thought they would have emailed me new rates about a month before it expired, but nothing.

I wonder how many people will see their monthly gas and electric direct debit payment overtake their monthly mortgage payment? Quite a few I suspect.

Looking at some of the prices people are paying (or expected to pay) on here, they’re 3-4 times my mortgage payment (which is low granted ) but it’s mad, as things stand, my standing charge for my gas is already more than my daily rate of usage !

If it over takes private rent ! I'm in shit street away. We live on the wifes small wage all my wages go on bill's already

Using in what small amount my dad left to cover the rest .and any little treats, like a takeaway or coming to a match or the dentist, or diesel or food. If nothing changes in the next few years I dont know what will happen to us

Worrying times mate. All the more so because the only way out seems to be for rampant inflation to carry wages along with it. Strange times as Tory govts usually hang their hats on control of interest and inflation rates. I do wonder if the govt plan is to tax their way out of trouble via vat, NI, and more folk tipping into upper income tax brackets while inflation erodes debt.

Still pissed off rushi is making us go into debt by £200 in oct , the tax man knows who the millionares are so dont give it to them and just give it to us, not a loan , or have a way to opt out if you dont want the debt , outrageous we have to pay that money back

I think this is just the tip as we go into a recession like the early 80s, they encourage people to work from home but in winter that means heating on all day, electric and gas been used yet my wife gets £6 a month for that, I’ve told her come October she an go back in full time to the office and use there electric and heating.

Turn to crime like the rest have had to do.
People wonder why the country gas lost it's moral compass. Such a dodgy, clueless, government.

True I have always been told to save for the future but I cant now afford the future despite saving.

Using my dads inheritance to do the things I missed out on when saving. More matches and gigs , than worry when i am to old to worry sitting in a home in my own piss !
