Gas & Electricity

Doubt my smart meter qualifies! Saying that I just take what they say for granted.

Are the standing charges going up by silly amounts as surely they shouldn’t be.

Shell Energy belled me up on Friday to try and install smart meters sent them packing, push comes to shove I'll rig the meter but still on 3p per kwh for a year thank god.

When the price increase happens, I’m going to sue how much an hour of central heating is going to cost me.

Rough estimate is 28kwh boiler x 15p = £4.20 per hour, but no idea how much the boiler will be on full power, so hopefully less than that in reality.

Even if people can somehow afford the new prices their disposable income is going to be wiped out. As already mentioned the knock on effects of that are scary.

It would actually make more sence for the government to subsidise people's energy bills, so they are paying 2021 levels. Then working class people will have money to spend and keep more business going who then pay taxes and don't claim as much benefits etc.

If businesses fold, will the price per kWh increase even more if the energy companies aren’t getting money from businesses?

This energy crisis will make covid look like a small drama.

This is going to destroy communities and civilisation as we know it.

Hospitality industry will be hardest hit as no one will be able to afford to go out and enjoy a few drinks with their pals. And to stick the boot in, their own overheads are sky rocketing and they can't increase the prices to rectify this as people are already turning their backs on the inflated prices after covid. It's lose lose for them.

Other small businesses will close as they are in the same situation.

The only winners will be the supermarkets again.

There will be carnage this winter. I feel sorry for local businesses that will pretty much close overnight and the government don't care. They are burying their heads in the sand. This will take years and years to repair, and I don't think Britain will be the same again.
To be fair Britain hasn't been the same since the covid lockdowns mate

Why do you think that?

Covid vaccines have stopped us having faith in Britain?
Brexit?
12 years straight of austerity, concluding with 18 months of furlough payments that now need paying for on top when there’s nothing left to cut?

There will be a deal done by the govt, I’m sure. The rises are just ridiculous.

So, the west sanctions Putin.... but they seem to be the one's who will suffer most.
Putin must be smiling reading that.
