Gas & Electricity

I think one of the major things is no matter what you do you will suffer, in most cases you can save money by cutting down going to the pub, football etc but teh you end up at home and then what, you will be freezing your bollocks off or having cold cups of tea! I think this is the single biggest threat to people at the moment, the world leaders really need to come together and think out the box here because I see the world going into meltdown soon.

Spoke to my brother today who is expecting his bill to go up to around £500/month. In the last 2 years it's gone from £150 to £500 a month!! I got lucky and an admin error meant I fixed last year for 2 years on £150 a month. Another mates bills are predicted to go up to £480 a month and he's in a fairly average house. At the time I was pretty annoyed with myself, but I feel 'lucky' now but I can imagine my bills will drift towards £300 a month - that's from £100 a month a few years ago.

We were talking about this and if bills just keep going up, you're going to get people telling their boss they HAVE to have a, say, 20% pay rise just to pay bills. That's going to push inflation up and up. If these kinds of bills come through in October - just before Christmas - it's going to be carnage.

What worries me though is that this is going to obliterate people. I've spoken to people who I know aren't on great incomes but have fixed deals and they simply don't believe that their bills will more than double. This isn't a case of switching lights off etc to save a few quid, no matter what you do in your home - short of not heating it - your bills are going to become phenomenally expensive and likely to drive the country into a recession. The war in Ukraine shows no sign of stopping and we're likely to have to get used to higher prices anyway. However, I don't see any sign of the government doing anything about this at all.
Is that dual fuel? You can tell me to eff off and stop being nosey. But, if it's just the electric, how's he spending 500 a month? That's frightening.

Yup,mine going up a ton a month but i still felt i compelled to fix the 'new' rate for 5 years!
Mines gone up the same fortunately I’m paying it off in October, some people are in for a huge shock if it keeps climbing. It’s going to be a full on recession I think. When the crash happened in 2008 I said to my wife it would take 15-20 years to recover, we are in that period now but it’s all gone too shit and will be another 20 before it’s sorted.

I'll have probably pegged out before then(unless that piggy eyed russian nonce ends the world sooner).

Of all people BM you should know this is all manufactured to keep us in our place.
Put the peasants in debt, keep them under.

Give it 12 to 18 months and most people's energy bills will be more than their mortgage!

Mine is currently £250 a month - adjusted in March up from £100 a month (both Gas and Electric) Goodness knows what it will be next March. Have turned the thermostat down so no gas heating till Nov unless really cold.
My account went positive this month by £3. Hopefully the £120 a month increase per month (ave) for the next 4 months will keep the renewal price down. I can't go higher than £250 on hone energy and that's the bottom line.
Will probably have to wear thick jumpers and finger gloves this coming winter.
