Gas & Electricity

I am on a fix till dec , £49 a month dual fuel , been sending in readings , looks like i am using £30 a month and i am in credit , with the 400 quid i should get through the winter ok as i wont accept a doubling of my direct debit on the standard variable rate and i will only heat one room , perhaps i have my head in the sand !

Difficult in Brighton. I seem to remember it being all pebbles.

Not too long ago gas was about 2.6p per kWh. Now it’s 7.34p and it’s predicted to go up to 12p in October. Absolute madness. A 5% saving on VAT won’t even scratch the surface.
It's fucking scary. I got very lucky with a 2 year fix last September with EDF - currently paying 4.322p per kWh so for now I'm protected from the worst of the rises but come 30th September 2023 it's going to hit me. Fortunately I've got 14 months to budget for it whereas those on variable tariffs are still reeling from the last round of price rises and have had no chance of planning for the next rise.

Also, these latest price predictions could well be redundant in next to no time. It was only a few weeks ago that we were being told that the forecast was for a 65% rise in October. Previous to that it was 40+%, and now it's nearly 80%. it wouldn't surprise me if it gets revised to 100% before long.

I’m going to buy shares in companies that make woolly jumpers and thermal socks.
