Gas & Electricity

No gas at all. No hot tubs or aircon or fans. No tumble drier or dishwasher. Cups of tea, guilty.
Are you charging lots of devices ? You need to unplug them from the mains when they are charged because even left on without the devices attatched the chargers still use elec , little things add up , also anything with a clock face like microwaves , washing machines are using elec at rest , turn them off at the mains when not in use

I do all that. I'm generally tighter than two coats of paint.

Has your direct debit gone up or has your actual bill gone up? The electric company can only bill you for electric you have used so if it's the bill then something somewhere has used it. If everything is off then it could be a dodgy appliance, power-washer, lawn-mower? Who knows.

Either way your smart meter can help out if you have one. Some companies like Octopus add a breakdown of usage onto their bills so you can see usage hourly by day. I can see exactly on my bill by the day and hour when the kettle goes on!

Dropped my DD down to £100.

British Gas recommended £85 but I thought I'd play it safe....

This is only a few months after them telling me they wanted £200+ per month.

I’m one of the “mugs” who signed up to a high fixed rate because the alternative apocalyptic prices predictions were unthinkable.

The rate we’ve been paying is marginally below the government fix so we’ll be paying way over the odds for the next 11 months.

That’s life I guess!

EON combined forecast for the next twelve months, approx £2800.
about £600 in credit, current SO is for £242 a month. Last year was about £3500 so going in the right direction, for now!

Phone up and say your house has been sold and your moving out this week then join a new supplier on the lower price cap

And battery bill?
Didnt have to buy any new ones , just a little torch not a whopper one , found a pile of batteries in the spare room at the start of the winter , that and unplugging devices chargers at the wall helped too, had an hrs heating a day and my telly was left on standby but offset by the above i pressume , monthly readings sent in none of this smart meter stuff

I need to get the fuck away from EDF whose smart meter doesn’t work, their twice yearly billing is a joke and who simply refuse to lower my direct debit from £250 a month despite the price decreases and me being nearly £600 in fucking credit.
