Gas & Electricity

If you've been on a variable the whole time then just be careful, as your usage will have dropped significantly over the last few months while it's warmer and brighter.

I think the general cost has come down slightly, but don't get suckered into thinking it'll stay around £100. That's not to say a fixed of £170 all year is worth it either as you may end up paying too much, but I suppose at least you've got some comfort of having fixed it.
I've always had fixed rate deals, I was paying £90 for both for 18 months before it went to £218. I'll end up getting a fixed rate deal eventually but I'm seeing how far I can go before it creeps up.

Us low users are going to be the hardest hit according to the experts, great , my torch has made a comeback as it is dark at eight thirty now . Doesnt help merlin is black and i cant see him in the dark !

Fucking Hell Kaz, have things come to that, walking round your house with a fucking torch ?
I thought only cat burglars did that.

Sunak and his free marketeer shysters have dry bummed us all up the shitter - meanwhile places like France and Spain brought in price controls to restrict price increases - and still some **** on here will push the Tories as being a capable Govt who are good with the economy when in reality its in fucking tatters

I did it all last winter and saved a lot , my tv lights up the bedroom , torch for the hall, bathroom and kitchen which i only pass through , did it as an experiment and with such high energy costs and it made a difference

Just got my leccy bill. £7!
Turns out they have been estimating at a ludicrous level. Question: I paid at the rate then appertaining; the rate then comes down but I have almost nothing to pay at the lower rate. Does that mean I have effectively paid the last period at the higher rate through the estimated bill?

Look here
I doubt your torches and batteries work out cheaper than led bulbs.
My batteries last all winter and like i said i got a double pack of torches with batteries included for fuck all , i used my torch and also unplugged everything when charged , turned off everything with a light on except the tv and sky box , did everything to keep costs down , i did well on my bills , my dd is £24 for both now and was fifty something in the winter . Drop your obsession with my efforts, i have to do it , i am going to be hardest hit this winter so need to be savvy as i am a poor person

In this energy price situation your solution is the easiest and probably the best. Save money by using less. Not rocket science but good old common sense. I for one applaud you.

Correct.
Complete false economy buying batteries for a torch.
A 4W LED bulb used for 3 hours a day for a year would cost all of £1.30 in electricity even at todays rates, and would use 4.4KWh.
To get the same energy from batteries would cost many times as much.
How much clearer can i be about the battery thing , i have stated many times that i found some in the spare room hence why i started using the torch , not brought a single one more for nearly a year, i use the torch for a few mins in the evenings and now long enough to feed merlin in the really early morning , not for hours

Leave me alone ! Lol

Bin off sky that will save you loads

I don’t really care how much you use your torch or what you do.
I was just pointing out it’s a false economy for anyone thinking of doing the same. Switching a light on for a few minutes is much cheaper than using a torch but if using your torch works for you then that’s nothing to do with me.
