Shocking news. Like some others, I'm more of an occasional visitor to Off Topic so I never got to experience the full range of GSC's posts. I only saw little snippets of them but that alone was enough to know that he was arguably the most well-respected poster on here and the benchmark for others to follow.

It's possible I could've met him at an away game in the past but I'm crap at recognising people if they let on to me at a later date. Had loads of seemingly random peeps let on to me down the years when I've been out and about and not had a clue who they were but instantly realised that they must be blues I've shared a few words with at some point.

RIP Sam.

Think the number of posts and the depth of feeling on this thread some up how highly regarded he was and how much he will be missed :(

Thoughts and prayers go out to his family cant imagine what they must be going through. RIP GSC sleep well x

Also think having this as the cellar permanently would be a nice tribute.

Unbelievably sad news, can't believe I've woken to this. Read through most of the thread and the "off-topic family" have said it all really. I never met Sam, but his posts were effin' hilarious. I feel like I know him and it was always obvious reading between the lines of even his most 'near-the-knuckle' posts, that he was a sound fella with a wicked sense of humour.

I've shed a few tears for GSC this morning - but only after the missus and kids went out. Otherwise I'd have to explain that "look, I'm upset... someone I've never met off the internet has died!"

My heart goes out to his proper mates and family. RIP Blue, sleep well.

After i found out last night i stayed up for a bit, missus gave me a hug, she understands what this place means to me, I think it means the same to us all in a way, we are all in a dysfunctional family full of laughs, hard to believe it will be the same again.
Didn't realise someone i had never met could have such an effect. Very grateful i could be let back on and leave my condolences on here.

It's fantastic on here, even after a barmy resulting in someone getting banned you can still PM them making sure they're all right when they come back. A tight knit group who welcome all.
