Most small public places like coffee shops have always had one toilet for both sexes. The only problem this causes is ladies spending forever in there doing their make up when I’m desperate for a piss.That's now happened at our place.
Used to be - Ladies on the left, disabled bog in the middle, Gents on the right.
Now its - Ladies on the left, Gender Neutral bog in the middle, Gents on the right.
Suits me fine. No one ever goes in the middle one. Think people are unsure if they can ha! I certainly do though. A lot cleaner and more space. Happy days! Don't have to make small talk either in the gents toilets which I hate.
This has been largely solved by the smart phone. See also disabled toilets and trains.

We've had gender-neutral khazis in our house all my life.
Is there anyone with separate bogs in the house for males and females? (Or other categories?) I can imagine some extreme religious sects might, but 99% of humanity doesn't.
