Most small public places like coffee shops have always had one toilet for both sexes. The only problem this causes is ladies spending forever in there doing their make up when I’m desperate for a piss.
This has been largely solved by the smart phone. See also disabled toilets and trains.

We've had gender-neutral khazis in our house all my life.
Is there anyone with separate bogs in the house for males and females? (Or other categories?) I can imagine some extreme religious sects might, but 99% of humanity doesn't.

Had gender neutral toilets at my high school. At the time they were just called unisex toilets. This was nearly 20 years ago. Never any problems. Everyone had their own cubicle with ceiling-to-floor walls and a lockable door. Don't think anyone I went to school with has come out as "one of them transgenders you see knocking about". Load of hysteria about nothing, as per usual.

I remeber back in the 80 a pub we used to frequent had an upsatirs bar with only a ladies that everyone used, because mobody could be bothered going downstairs for the mens. Plus going to male dominated gigs at big arena venues men commonly used the ladies if there was no queue for them. It never seemed to cause any issues.

I know some people who have done this in a few different restaurants, with no issues. All the toilets are individual, self contained units, a bit like individual downstairs toilets at home.

That's the best way of doing it I think, where it is feasible to do so.

They had mixed toilets in South the decades it was open.

I felt sorry for the girls at times because every now and again there’d be a fella who’d go for a massive stinking shit and walk out proud as fuck or been spewing his ring and stagger out all over the shop… the girls, who’d be touching up their makeup or washing their hands, would not be all that impressed having to share their space with us!
