Fantastic actor probably one of the last proper Hollywood movie stars alongside Clint Eastwood, seems strange that his wife and dog were also found dead although police don’t reckon foul play..
R.I.P Gene ..

He was one of my favourite actors, if not the favourite.

He single handedly made French Connection into a classic, and even when he was doing the silly stuff in Superman he still pulled it off brilliantly.

He had a definite presence about him and you don’t really see that in many of the current actors.

I watched The French Connection the other week, what a fantastic natural actor, RIP to him and his wife.

His portrayal of Little Bill in Unforgiven was first class.
And equally brilliant in Unforgiven was Richard Harris as English Bob.

RIP.

Despite neither coming from there, I guess Steiger and Hackman will always be seen as the personification of white Mississippians in that era. Genuinely great actor.
