I see sky are now calling it a 'brexit election'. so much for general or multiple issues then.
They can call it what they want. For many it won't be just about that at all. A lot even won't vote, on principle. Plus, in most seats it won't matter anyway, as the sitting MP/Party will win whatever happens.

Can someone more politically switched on than I please explain the point in holding another general election when Brexit is still top of the agenda?

People need to be voting on other crucially important affairs such as housing, education, policing, environment etc, not another round of who says what on Brexit.
I'd say you were more politically switched on than most, if those are you priorities, mate.

He's got them in his Rea view mirror, trust me.

It’s good to see lots of mps standing down already. Knowing they will probably loose their seats. We’ve needed to get rid of a lot of them for a while now

No wonder some didn’t want an election

Then why not vote Green, mate? They are the only party with their heads seriously around climate change. They are also remainers. Moreover, having never been near power, they have yet to be exposed for being lying narcissistic twat

Do please respond.
Not sure we’ll we have a Green candidate but would do if we do. It’s a huge Tory area so it doesn’t really matter who I vote for as Tory will get in anyway - even though we have the lovely family man Nigel Griffith’s as mp

They’ve known what was coming for some time, but still backed their conviction that crashing out if the EU without a deal would be an insanity they had to try and prevent, and something few people voted for.

Rumours abounding that Johnson and Farage have done a deal on the QT for the Brexit party to stand only in Labour seats with a high % of leave voters.
This would make sense as the Brexit party and Farage have been very quiet in recent days when you would have expected them to be all over the Tories for not getting us out on 31st October.
In fact I'm sure a deal has been brokered by the ERG ( on Johnson's behalf) and Farage to make sure the Tory vote isn't eaten into by the Brexit party.
The Tories then win the GE.
We then leave on the current WAB.
The ERG and Farage are then banking on us crashing out at the end of 2020.
Johnson however wants a deal or extension of transition phase. No deal is too risky and too much hard work for him.
Neither side trust each other but are happy to go along with this pact for now and take their chances later on.
This is what Brexit has done to this country.
PS Would also explain why Johnson pulled the WAB. Second ref and customs union amendments would not have passed but the one about parliament having a say in extending the transition would have exposed an internal tory rift with the ERG.

I suspect a few of them don’t want to be associated with what is becoming a relatively extreme administration. Could yet be damaging for the Tories that their more moderate MPs are deserting the party.

I think what you’ve said makes sense.

To be honest a country should be able to democratically leave the EU should it wish and it shouldn’t tear said country apart like this has. The reason we are in the mess is the manner in which the question was asked and then implemented without consensus.

Anyway that’s another debate for the Brexit thread.

I really did hope this would kill off Farage, this deal. I utterly despise the slimed ball.

The badge should've sufficed as it seems to have been pretty well supported across the house.
The tie looked wank and over engineered.

Do you think the same about poppies? You know? A paper one in the lapel is sufficient, an enamel badge is trying too hard but FFS one on the grille of the car is just caring too much? Your comments about the tie are crass and say a lot about yourself.

Did a bit of digging about my MP since I’ve moved this year and he’s a bit of a **** to be honest, shock horror.

He did vote for the usual Tory stuff - not taxing banks more, bedroom tax, cutting disabled benefits etc. etc.

You’d expect that and he’s probably been whipped too.

But he went against the grain to vote against any rights for EU citizens living in the UK currently, post Brexit.

Not only is this a shit house thing to do, it’s also utterly fucking idiotic. If even a 3rd decided ‘you know what, fuck Britain if they don’t want me’, our economy would be in a world of shit. I don’t think people realise the contribution and reliance we have on these workers across many sectors, including The Health Service.
