We will see. I think the signs are there that May is on her way even if the Tories win the election. I'm not a betting man, but I don't think she will be PM this time next year. I think the election will be closer than some people think.

they arent going to get rid of her with brexit negotiations coming up. one of the reasons she called an election was because she hadnt won an election before. they arent going to do a leadership contest again and have an unelected leader. thats just my opinion though.

I am guessing that it can only be down to the desperate need of some Labour supporters to turn a blind-eye to the reality that is Corbyn that leads to people to re-write history in this manner

If he is such a man of principles - surely he would prefer the truth about his past being stated and then he can man-up to that rather than have people strive to hide the facts, logically due to them being perceived as a source of embarrassment

Out of interest, would you have done the same trawling through a candidate's history if it were Nelson Mandela standing for this election?

Not quite, but I have moved from 100% "likely to vote Tory" to "abstain". Over the campaign, I have become increasingly pissed off with May:
  • Complacency
  • Total misguided bollox on the dementia tax
  • Either poorly advised or doesn't listen, resulting in U-turns that make "strong and steady" look laughable
  • Wooden style and annoying voice.
  • Afraid to appear in public or debate on anything other than her own terms - which doesn't bode well for Brexit negotiations
  • Run-down of police numbers now cruelly exposed. (Was never impressed with her performance as Home Sec anyway.)
  • Still nothing tangible on immigration despite repeating the targets.
In turn, Corbyn has gone up in my stock. Miles more personable and hard working.

HOWEVER, his anti-business and generally ridiculous economic policies would be a disaster. Furthermore, he's got McDonnell and Abbott to keep company with all the skeletons in his closet.

UKIP have run their course, LibDems still haven't progressed beyond last June and Greens are a dog's breakfast.

So a Tory win with a much-chastised May suits me best but I can't be arsed returning the 50 miles home on Thursday to give them my vote.

That's me mate but when people accuse you not just on here but facebook work etc, for being a **** , or some uncaring selfish tosspot for even considering voting Tory, it just hardens my view. But Corbyn has impressed me in this election and May has been utter dog turd.

Because there's too much of it! It cripples the NHS for a start. My wife has had, wait for it, 4 operations cancelled this year alone!

Nevermind ISIS using it as a fucking open door into the country to bomb our families.

Don't you think the quantity of money spent on management/bureaucracy in the NHS, rising inflation and the ageing poulation in the UK, far outweigh the NHS treatment of immigrants?

She was elected by her constituents, when Cameron stepped down the party chose her, therefore she is an elected PM like any before her.

well yea technically she is, but she hasn't been elected to be prime minister by the public ( in a general election) and that would always be used against her.

Yes, pretty much.

May's been a fucking disaster. I'm not so annoyed with the policies; it's been the woefully weak presentation of them. Where is she to be seen puffing her chest out about how many lives have been saved by foiled terrorist plots? (We've stopped far more than have got through). Where's the comparisons with the 2,000 lives lost (IIRC) from IRA terrorism, compared with 20x less than that from Islamic extremists through excellent policing and counter-terrorism measures? Bragging about close collaboration across Europe?

There's a reasonable defence here and she's just useless at presenting it.

Likewise the care cost proposals. Do people actually realise that if you are going into residential care, the manifesto proposals BEFORE the u-turn were better? Your home was always going to be included in the means testing. She simply raised the amount you could keep from £23k to £100k. Most people were going to be better off. (I know it adversely affected domiciliary care, but that's not the point. She had an opportunity to present this much better than she did.) And pretending there was no u-turn was also pathetic.

Part of the problem is that she has surrounded herself with a cabal of advisors through whom everything must be run: inwards and outwards. These are not political appointments but people whom she has long trusted and, of course, she has risen to the top, so how could it go wrong? This in some ways has led her to believe in her own infallibility. Arguably, she had to rely on those people because for most of her political life she has remained aloof from party politics and didn't work the tea rooms in the Commons to gather genuine support. She thus became leader of the Party more because the other candidates were unpalatable rather than anything to do with her merits. Oddly, it now looks as if she will become Prime Minister in similar circumstances.

There are plenty of examples of him talking to and having friendships with Unionists. Some people just don't want to see them.

Genuinely, and I mean that I really do, please point some out to me as it will sway my opinion of him on this matter at least.
