I think we had a buyback clause which expired a couple of seasons ago. Luis wouldn't have been a bad shout for us to be honest. Just a pity we couldn't get a work permit for him when he was needed as understudy to Fernandinho.

As per the information of the Athletic’s David Ornstein, while the aforementioned buy-back clause has now been expired, Manchester City still retain a sell-on clause in the Brazilian's deal at Villa Park.
